@mcgillmd921 You can tell that "Philippi" was intended as the Season 2 finale, and they had to compress the Season 3 arc of Octavian's ascent to Princeps into the back half. Rushed, especially after the detailed storytelling of Season 1, but even speed-Rome is better than no Rome at all.

Two seasons and gone. Poof. With so many incredible stories left to tell and history to cover. It’s really a shame. HBO Rome deserved more than two seasons.
