@chilledmaths @DrHelenDrury @laura_tyler_ @JohnMOxford It was! It's definitely not the first time I've said it - but I think making it it really obvious and structuring student think and discussion time before the develop section definitely helped the thinking involved in the practice that followed.

@RuthPatrickNE @DrHelenDrury @laura_tyler_ I'm sure it's not the first time you have asked that question, Ruth, but wasn't it great hearing @JohnMOxford talking about it at the conference.

It's funny the effect that a simple sentence can have... "What can I try first' led to a lot of different thoughts... It also eventually led to a class conclusion connecting factors of the total amount and the ratio used.. Via lots of practice! @DrHelenDrury @laura_tyler_

Planning lessons on the train home to the North East following #ACPConference24 - they are awash with purposeful practice and tools of mass participation! Thanks for a great day everyone.

This is such a simple but brilliant idea-for all departments not just English. And if the library could be alerted so it can stock copies of the books…

So we have a ritual at the start of term where we recommend two books from our summer holiday reads in the first English Department meeting. It’s the first item on the agenda. Here are my two: mini 🧵 👇 Would love to know other reading recommendations! @Team_English1
