My mood is low at the moment, which means my self esteem isn’t great. But I’ve dressed up tonight and actually feel alright about myself, so wanted to share a photo 😊

Yes! This is already shaping up to be a brilliant conference and in the culturally-rich and lively city of Bristol. We'd love to welcome you here in March so please submit an abstract in the next week if you want to join us!
Cathy Hume@cathyhume

Final reminder for our CfP, closing next Friday (25th). @EarlyModernista and I have some fabulous abstracts already, but there is still capacity - please feel free to make our inboxes overflow!

This is fun! There’s a Paddington trail across the UK of 23 bears- from Land’s End to John O’groats (which sounds like a good idea for a cycle route 🚲😃) Has anyone seen any of the others? This one is in … Paddington of course. Connaught village- my fav. New film coming 🎬📽️
HyPER - Hyde Park Estate Residents@HyperHydePark

We have exciting news - National treasure and worldwide film star Paddington Bear has set up shop on a bench in Connaught Village, Paddington. This very famous bear has made himself at home outside 28 Connaught Street, and last Friday we saw many people (of all ages) 1/6

@MaroftheBooks Currently reading The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson, which I would consider to meet these criteria. Would also suggest that many of Jesse Mihalik's books qualify, as do any number of the 'urban fantasy with snarky heroine' subgenre.

Just realized I can’t come up with an answer to this question myself so I turn to you, readers/writers: What is the last SFF book you read in first person POV with a female main character? I’m super curious if there’s a reason I can’t think of any. 🤔

@AaronDelays what a near miss! We lived near a care home when I was young & there were multiple 'escapes', some of which were returned... others necessitated air ambulance & search & rescue.

Around midnight last night, I went for a walk in the field near my house when I heard a noise in the distance... A thread 🧵

@EarlyModernista As a person who loves 'weirdo plays' but didn't study English theatre beyond A level (French 17C is my background), where would I find such things to read? (And is there, daydream of daydreams, perchance a virtual readthrough club for folks who might want to try them out loud?)

Ok, I set my students Maid of Honour, Bloody Banquet and Jovial Crew. Ok there are undeniable weak aspects to those plays. BUT I/we learnt so much from staging them inc how goddamn funny they are + students were thankful to be doing my "weirdo plays" for a change rather than Shax

What's the average price per mile for a vehicle like mine in a petrol car? Would 15p per mile be cheap at a motorist's services?

Folks! I’m workshopping potential Kickstarter rewards for a new album. Handwritten lyrics, personal cover song recordings, awesome t-shirts, physical albums, gigs in your house. What have I missed? Any other awesome ideas? X

It is with a heavy heart that I share that I’ve miscarried. I knew this was a risk when announcing the pregnancy so early, but it’s not really something you think will happen to you until it does. This is a heartbreaking update to give, and honestly one I debated posting at all. It just didn’t feel right to archive everything and move on after announcing it. I’m not feeling very up to talking about it quite yet, though I will in time. ❤️‍🩹

@RbSidelines I feel this! Love my job, love my manager/team, & in 3 weeks I'm going down to 27.5 hours, but I swing between panic on the income / career points lost, and *knowing* that this'll only skim the edges off my near burn-out.

@ZJAyres Exactly. Working for £300 a month plus pension contributions and a career path that isn't disrupted... and showing my children that mum's work is important, and as central as dad's.

@focusfronting Best thing about it when I watched was that I was living in France at the time so it was dubbed, and it wasn't till then that I realised how much of what I watched on UK television had American accents!
