This was one of the most eye-opening experiences I've had in Britain. @MarlonTag, Restore Britain's mayoral candidate for Greater Manchester, and I visited Piccadilly Gardens late on a Thursday night to see the reality for ourselves. Within minutes, we were warned that if we didn't leave soon, we risked being stabbed. We witnessed what appeared to be open drug dealing, heavily intoxicated young girls walking around, individuals we suspected to be in the country illegally loitering around the area, rats running through the streets, mountains of litter, and the overwhelming smell of cannabis. If elected, Marlon has pledged to restore 24/7 policing to Piccadilly Gardens, tackle persistent criminality, and make the area somewhere ordinary people can feel safe walking through again. Every time I toddle along Pollokshaws Rd this view catches my eye. Highlighting the rise and fall of the street as it passes Camphill Gate, all the way down to the Crossmyloof Mansions gushet (the Granary), which from this angle appears to sit in a hollow. #Glasgow
