My dad is ill, my brother called 111 at 10am. They said he needed a paramedic and would send an ambulance. It never came. I got back from London in my car this evening, I drove because I simply cannot rely on trains anymore in the UK. We are now in A&E. #12YearsofTory

What a great day of CPD discussing all things literacy with the expert that is @RuthevRuth! Very excited to continue to better the lives of all our students through the power of reading.

@LouisEverett1 So rewarding when you bump into a student a decade, or two(!) after teaching them and learn of the impact you’ve had. It’s a career full of joy but not for the faint hearted.
English

@LouisEverett1 I’m not surprised. I’m sure it was a very moving moment.

We had one of our Year 7 students who joined us as a refugee from Afghanistan in October speak in assembly to a mixture of Year 7 students and their parents today. In my top 3 proudest moments of this term.

THREAD: We’re trying to build a culture where students feel confident to be heard & speak up. To do this we: ✅Promote firm behaviour management so students not interrupted in class ✅Part of our shared language we talk about ‘whole-class voice’ & ‘being heard…

@KennyInclusion Thanks Kenny it really does tie in! Had a blog published in Research Schools Newsletter will send it over.

@slvhart Lovely. The students are so fortunate to be at KES where teachers teach but also care so much about them as individuals
English

@slvhart I’m not surprised the staff and students at KES feel proud of their school. They’ve transformed it into a place where learning comes first against a backdrop of wonderful care. Go Team KES! So pleased to be a little part of your work.

@StokeHigh the staff are so dedicated to their students. They have embedded explicit evidence-based literacy in all lessons. Awesome! Thank you for welcoming my contribution to your work which is changing so many children’s lives

So enjoyed my visit to @cityacademyislington I was made to feel really welcome. A privilege to deliver training on behalf of @DriverTrust to such a dedicated group of staff who are determined to develop students’ independent reading habits. Thank you.

1/n I’m a little behind but @libbyisaac @TTRadio2021 with @RuthevRuth show from 24/8 on reading was great. Key takeaways for me 1) teacher to read most important parts of text to class to ensure children hear what skilled reading is and experience key parts as they should be read
English

@MissRichardsEng Thank you Caroline! I hope to share some useful information to anyone who can find an hour at this precious time in the holiday.

I’ve eschewed anything work related all summer but I had a classroom sort today (to be continued!) and am looking forward to listening to my wonderful friend @RuthevRuth tonight talk all things literacy. It’s beginning to feel worryingly close to September…

What happens when you let a class independently read for an hour? If we read to our own children why should we not always be doing this for our student's. Tune in Tuesday and listen to our amazing literacy guru @RuthevRuth and specials guest @rebeccahodes @TTRadio2021
