Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month ‘26 Post #19 Transparency When I started this mission 6 years ago, I told myself in order to get people interested that I need to be fully transparent so they could imagine how I feel as a person with a disability. Over the years I have wrote many posts about my life with Cerebral Palsy. Some fill with humor, some filled achievements, some filled disappointments and some just getting you to realize what maybe normal to you isn't normal to me. I have sat behind this keyboard with so many emotions. I have felt proud, I have felt angry, I have felt sad, but most of all I have felt nervous. Many times I sit here with tears running down my face because of how transparent I am. I am worried about how people are going to react. I am worried about the backlash. I know in my heart I'm doing a good thing, because I am helping other understand the struggles and triumphs of a person with a disability!

Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month ‘26 Post #18 Stress We all have stress is our lives. It might come from your job, your family, or just a simple change in your daily routine. However, how often do you get get stress when you doing something you enjoy? For people with disabilities, that come quite often as we have to prepare for things differently than most people. Just like most people, I enjoy going to live events. I love the atmosphere of a sporting event, love to hear the roar of the crowd and enjoy celebrating a win with other fans, I mean I am in Boston so there are alot of those. However, there are many thing that go into me enjoying an event like this that other do not realize that become stressful. For one there is parking. How far can I walk to the stadium before I get tired? Do I qualify for ADA parking? Secondly, getting to my seats. While I do have disability I am able to sit in regular seating as I don't require a wheelchair or have any mobility aids. However, sometimes getting to my seat can be a daunting task because of my balance. Going up a flight of steep stairs or even going down can be quite the challenge. Also trying to maneuver through a crowd especially when you trying to get in your row can be very stress as my balance is effected. Finally, now that I have family who accompany me to these events, it is very hard to return to your seats with concessions when you are trying to balance with one hand. The last thing I want to do is spill a $18 beer! It's funny how something so enjoyable like going to a live event can become stressful for a person with disability. When we think about compliance for people with disabilities do we just do we what is needed to comply or do we take and extra step or two to make the experience less stressful and more comfortable for those with disabilities? @NBA @MLB @NFL @NHL @RedSox @celtics @Patriots @NHLBruins

Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month ‘26 Post #16 Monday Morning Quarterbacks It is crazy to me how many people love to Monday morning quarterback and come to snap judgements on certain thing. As someone who loves sports I can say I have played Monday morning quarterback myself. I also know as a coach you need to dismiss the Monday morning quarterbacks, but it hard to when people are doing about your life. There are two specific instances the fuel me to continue to bring awareness to Cerebral Palsy The most recent was when a fellow official told me, that a fan asked him "How is this guy going to officiate a varsity basketball game, it looks like he just had a stroke?" Now I understand I'm not you typical looking official, but why judge someone on appearance. The individual had even seen me officate and to be honest with this individual the stroke happen over 40 years ago 😀 The second incident happened some years ago. I have been living on my own for some time now, when my parents had decided to locate. Shortly there after I get this comment, "So are you going to move to Minnesota with you parents?" At the time I was 31 and been living indepently, had friends and made a successful career out of coaching and officiating. So the 4 million question is why would this person say that? If your going to judge me on something judge me on this: Arizona to win it all!

Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month ‘26 Post #15 Beliefs Although I don't go to church regularly, I believe in God. As a young kid I use to ask myself why did God make me this way? Why did he choose me? Why am I being punished? I use to wish my disabilities on those who made fun of me or didn't included me. However, as I got older and through some inspiring talks with others I realized that my disability isn't a punishment, it a way for God to show his work. He teaches us that everyone is different, he teaches us that everyone has their struggles, and he teaches us no matter how different we are he loves us for who we are. I still question to this day why me? However, I need to remind myself I was chosen by God to display his work. To show people that differences should not matter and we should be love people for who they are, like God loves us!

Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month ‘26 Post #14 Tears Like anyone else people with disabilities will also shed tears. However, over the past week, many of the tears that I have shed are not because of sadness, it is because of how proud I am. I’ve watched the FOX 25 news story multiple times in each time I watch it. I shed tears not because how the camera captures my limp or focuses on my hand but because of how my 12-year-old son handles himself. I will be the first to admit that my son is not perfect. He’s just like any other 12-year-old boy getting in his fair of trouble, however, the understanding he has about people with disabilities at such a young age is remarkable to me. It amazes me how a 12 year-old boy can have such an understanding about people with disabilities, however grown adults cannot I can’t express enough how proud I am of my son because this is why I started this Crusade and seeing him be so articulate and mature on TV about this issue has made this all worth it
