"It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough, and it has been given in sufficiently generous measure to allow the accomplishment of the very greatest things if the whole of it is well invested. But when it is squandered in luxury and carelessness, when it is devoted to no good end, forced at last by the ultimate necessity we perceive that it has passed away before we were aware that it was passing." ~Seneca, On the Shortness of Life

Carl Sagan on the magic of the book:
"What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles.
But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you.
Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs.
Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic".

People “who believe in manifestation - the ability to cosmically attract success in life through positive self-talk, visualization, and symbolic actions (e.g., acting as if something is true) - are more likely to have experienced bankruptcy.” doi.org/10.1177/014616…

"I have often thought that the best way to define a man's character would be to seek out the particular mental or moral attitude in which, when it came upon him, he felt himself most deeply and intensively active and alive.
At such moments, there is a voice inside which speaks and says, 'This is the real me'."
~ William James

@andre_spicer Very similar framework to the three stages of Marshall Ganz’s Public Leadership Narrative.
1) Story of Self - Who am I?
2) Story of Us - Who are we?
3) Story of Now - What is our vision and action?

How do we move people to change?
This new paper suggests it involves answering three questions:
Who am I, who are we?
What should I/we do?
What is the aim?
The most important thing is linking the three questions together journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/10…

@tomorrowstouris @wwffed @WellingtonUni Agreed. Agreed. Closer to Coronation Street than anything you’d see in the Olympics.
The future of a VUW alumni World Heavyweight Champion looks bleak.
You timed your shift overseas well!

@RyanMeachen Professional wrestling is about drama and acting not sport. @wwffed is TV. However, there's no future in it as @WellingtonUni is axing drama, theatre and acting etc.
