The interesting part is that many opponents of Alberta independence rarely try to persuade us anymore. They don’t explain why Alberta should stay. They don’t offer a hopeful vision for the future of Canada. They don’t explain why the current relationship is fair, sustainable, or worth protecting. Instead, they jump straight to insults. “Separatist.” “Fringe.” “Traitor.” But insults are not arguments. In fact, when people immediately resort to name-calling instead of persuasion, it means they know the argument itself is weak. And honestly? Every time someone says it like it’s supposed to hurt me, it actually strengthens my convictions even more. Because I don’t hear “separatist.” I hear: Albertans who are done apologizing for wanting a better future.
