@millerman I won't watch it despite its tasteful aesthetic. I read the first the book, and, while mostly enjoyable, there's a type of evil that Tom Ripley embodies that I don't want greater familiarity with. I want to be convinced of the inner beauty of the person, not confirm my pessimism.

Can't say much about Ripley as a series (just started watching it) but the first episode is beautifully shot

@latinedisce Wide spread literacy. That being said, while more people today are able to read and write, the ancient Romans who could did so at a much higher level. I firmly believe the average patrician was more literate and knowledgeable than current academics.

@SusanSavageLee1 Opening lines, because it sets the tone for the rest of the book. The ending lines can be any number of things: hopeful, poetic, tense, vague, proverbial, symmetric, or a call-back. Opening lines must only be one thing: good.

@LindsayAuthor Nowadays, luck. It has to do more with your connections, social media fame, ability to get a literary agent, and their ability to pitch something when the market is just right. Still, if you can't finish your writing project, all the luck in the world means nothing.

@MoonUmmi @CVVisaLizard Looks great! I look forward to seeing more of your art in the future! If you want to learn how to draw freehand, go to your local library and see if they have any books on it. I'm learning to draw, and that's how I'm starting.

@RazorwireRPG In an alternate world, Fallout 4's Diamond City would have been this. Then, maybe the lack of cities in FO4 could be excuseable. Diamond City and Goodneighbour hardly fits the needs of the game. 9 years prior to FO4, Oblivion had 7 major cities (plus the destroyed Kvatch).

Concept art for Fallout season 2 showed that The Ghoul & Dogmeat originally would have walked into Camp McCarran. The New California Republic base in Fallout New Vegas would be featured within the show's end credits instead. Would you have rather this be included or happy with what we got?

I am beyond tired of looking for writing music and only encountering AI slop playlists. It doesn't matter what genre I choose, all these YouTube mixes are artificially made and make finding genuine music and artists so much more frustrating.

@SLChalmersbooks @SusanSavageLee1 Do you do this minor characters? Even someone who's only in a chapter or two? I'm still finding a sweet spot for character development for my post-apocalyptic stories. I want the text to reveal as much as possible while being subtle and well-integrated.

With the general story in mind and some characters, I make a description, brief history, and any relationships to other characters. Usually, I will indicate some personality and any quirks. About 1/2 to 1 page does it - notes not long sentences. Know that they evolve as does the story.

Do you create backstories that never appear in your WIP? I usually have a few anecdotes that end up getting cut. Even if I don’t use them, I still feel like they’ve helped me understand my characters more #writingq #WritingCommunity

@mistressdivy Depends what you mean by 'challenge'; intelligence ought to be used to collaborate, not compete. I have no time for anyone who is more interested in winning a debate than discovering the truth. If you simply mean an intelligent woman who can keep pace (or surpass), yes.

@MarcusSheldon7 @RazorwireRPG Todd Howard in the Future: "Fallout 5 with be 5x larger than Fallout 4. We used procedurally generated content to give the game more depth. We learned from Starfield, a game everyone loved, and took those lessons to make a better Fallout!"

@RazorwireRPG She is cringe and gay. Don't give a shit about map size. It's about meaningful encounters, characters and quests.

@RazorwireRPG While I agree, I have a list of essential mods that make the Mojave more enjoyable, like those that add more wildlife/travellers/traders walking between cities, more unique encounters, and more places to explore. Romanticism should not be sacrificed for Realism.

How many people have said to you: "l'll buy your book" Only to be proved to be blatant liers when you check your sales figures? Does it drive you a little nuts, or do you get that they are just trying to humour you?

@Thezynite @FilmsFallout Visually, the series is stunning. Everything else, especially the writing, was terrible. Nothing was added to the richness of the lore, and it made all of the player's choices irrelevant. NCR? they're a mess. Legion? they're a mess. House? Vegas falls to deathclaws.
