why watch overtime playoff hockey when you can simply snort cocaine and ride a motorcycle out of a helicopter

@colinmci @dustweetr @ultimatepulse @wi_statebird I’m not a huge fan of do overs either. But there are situations where collisions are likely if one player doesn’t back down, I agree with Dusty oftentimes due to the thrower, but most players put blame on the defender for pursuing.

Dangerous or nah? It was a play on an up line that my team spent time discussing I’m giving a zoomed out view because I’m trying to keep it about the play, not the individuals (I’m the O receiver) I called dangerous play. Result = goal. Observer didnt card the dark player

@colinmci @dustweetr @ultimatepulse @wi_statebird If the disc is already in the air and two players are heading to the same space, who gets the disc and who has to back off? This way you have removed the dangerous situation and you aren’t punished for making a safe decision.

@wi_statebird Agree with this 100%. In youth sports it’s normally just the most confident player on the field makes the rules. Coaches aren’t allowed to intervene. Kids learn the rules set by the loud kid.

💯! The rules are written to require a law degree, let alone be accessible for kids with a 3rd grade reading comprehension. We cannot act like youth and adult comprehension is the same. We need a youth adapted ruleset OR rewrite the rules with accessibility in mind

@colinmci @ultimatepulse @wi_statebird Which brings me to another point I've danced around: Club v rec v HS v younger should *not* be using the same rulesets. The stall should shrink as we age/improve, the allowance for controlled danger/risk should increase commensurate w level of play, &c That's another convo tho

@RyanNatzke @dustweetr @ultimatepulse @wi_statebird It actually is available now — you announce “Be Careful,” then you make sure that you are balanced and in control (if not already), look where you are going, and proceed carefully, and play continues unhalted. ;)

@dustweetr @colinmci @ultimatepulse @wi_statebird What if instead of “dangerous play”, which insinuates that the other player did something bad/dangerous, there was a “dangerous situation” call that someone could make in situations where there is a high risk of both players bidding to the same unoccupied space for the disc?

@colinmci @ultimatepulse @wi_statebird This ruleset (as w most sports rulesets) has a dual problem of overly complex/specifc explanations and imprecise language. I enjoy nerding out about rules... yet I find reading/studying the updates since (approx) 10th edition more challenging & tedious.

@wi_statebird @HowdoIpoker In a situation like this, if the defender felt confident they could get to the disc first but also know there’s a a risk of contact, could the defender call dangerous play to stop play, avoid any chance of contact and just send the disc back to the thrower?

@HowdoIpoker -it’s a bad throwing decision It’s one of those plays that doesn’t result in the scary contact that says “this is ABSOLUTELY dangerous.” It’s why I posted it. I’m interested to see if more people think it’s dangerous/not - my position is biased as a player involved

@Schneider_CM But if both teams score then it is sudden death, so isn’t the advantage to take the ball? Plus their defense was gassed and needed a break.

With these overtime rules, I would defer - then, based on what the other team does on offense, I will know what I have to do when I get the ball.

@benbanyas @Ike_Saul This is incredible. If they played Ring it’s like 3-15, right? Btw @Ike_Sauk just read read that article you wrote about your brother for the first time a little bit ago and it’s pretty great!

@jjoyce I really like this idea. We can have @TheFrisbeeKid and his buddies run around while we catch them. Can Donnie learn to lasso or do we have to find some cowboys?
