@hiimmax@jpoll017 Even a David B can throw an off hand flick? No-step backhand here is almost as bad as off-hand backhand. Stepping on the backhand here gives improved angle and helps generate adequate power for better flight without pop up, with essentially no downside.
There was a bug or spider on my face last night that woke me up. Needless to say, I didn’t sleep great. How am I 37 and that’s never happened before in my life?
I had a moment where I was like, “is that my hair?” Then realized it was moving UP my face with little legs.
@TDBank_US Thank you. The last issue I had was difficult to resolve because phone wait times were excessive, the social media department did not have capability to resolve it, and there was no mechanism for communication via website or email. That design causes inconvenience.
@TDBank_US is there a way to submit complaints? Finding nothing on website. 2 wasted trips in 2 days have me wondering why use TD as a local banking option versus endless alternatives. Can’t even reach local branches via phone to confirm local information.
@OneMorePitcher@UltiPlanet I have taken a number of trips to club nationals before and after the TCT and no club season ever cost $5k or particularly close, and even cheaper when knocked out at Regionals.
Dangerous or nah?
It was a play on an up line that my team spent time discussing
I’m giving a zoomed out view because I’m trying to keep it about the play, not the individuals (I’m the O receiver)
I called dangerous play. Result = goal. Observer didnt card the dark player
@wi_statebird@rslashultimate Let’s at least appreciate the irony of accusations that you lack the awareness to avoid going into a situation where you may encounter someone not thinking/acting thoughtfully enough.
@RyanNatzke@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird Sometimes you aren’t in position to make a play safely. So you don’t. Part of the game. Don’t need to stop play and demand do-over just because someone else is similarly situated.
@colinmci@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird I’m not a huge fan of do overs either. But there are situations where collisions are likely if one player doesn’t back down, I agree with Dusty oftentimes due to the thrower, but most players put blame on the defender for pursuing.
@RyanNatzke@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird It is up to the players to play safely; not the thrower. Very rare to have no play at all safely. If so, that reflects on being out of position (and/or bad throw) to begin with — don’t need to demand a do-over to be fair and safe. This rule would cause 100 DOs per 1 legit case.
@dustweetr@RyanNatzke@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird Right. It is not a balanced solution. Better to flip the disc twice and if O wins both it is a completion. Otherwise, a turnover. But I still don’t like the rule proposal.
@RyanNatzke@colinmci@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird You are rewarding the offense by giving them the disc back after thwir throw created a dangerous play.
I despise do overs.
I accept that they are useful and even necessary. But any solution which does not involve "pretend this never happened" is a better solution. *to me*
@RyanNatzke@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird I can’t think of a situation so dangerous that I could not attempt to navigate it safely. If one exists, I highly doubt this call fixes it (more likely, I am moving and have no notice or chance to react).
@colinmci@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird If the disc is already in the air and two players are heading to the same space, who gets the disc and who has to back off? This way you have removed the dangerous situation and you aren’t punished for making a safe decision.
@RyanNatzke@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird Depends on the situation. But my play there is not to back off, it is to proceed carefully and attempt to make a play safely. If opponent makes DP, I can call it. Either way, I am safe and have a chance to make a play. /1
@RyanNatzke@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird The premise is that a player or players recognize the situation and have the ability to warn others and not behave dangerously. They should just do that. I see no reason for a do-over.
@RyanNatzke@dustweetr@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird It actually is available now — you announce “Be Careful,” then you make sure that you are balanced and in control (if not already), look where you are going, and proceed carefully, and play continues unhalted. ;)
@dustweetr@colinmci@ultimatepulse@wi_statebird What if instead of “dangerous play”, which insinuates that the other player did something bad/dangerous, there was a “dangerous situation” call that someone could make in situations where there is a high risk of both players bidding to the same unoccupied space for the disc?
@TKarnes2@dustweetr Low force & speed, minimal safety risk, blue navigating around to reduce/avoid significant contact. Both slow a little. I don’t see where this would fit under DP. I am also curious what play white was attempting.
@dustweetr@colinmci Pursuant to your point above I’m curious what your respective takes would be on this play?
I just watched this game yesterday and was not there in real time, but my understanding is the call on the field was “dangerous play on dark”.
