Please don't sun your perineum, folks. There is no benefit whatsoever and it's hard to examine for subsequent skin cancer if you overdo it.

Too bad @Delta can’t support it’s medallion members w loyalty. Flying my 68yo dad to Omaha for the College World Series for Fathers Day & desk agent gave my dads seat to another person prior to 10 min before take off. He was late getting to the gate due to recent knee surgery.

So many students/residents with research publications actually hate research. They’ve done research because it’s obligatory for matching into competitive training programs. We are turning off a generation of trainees to scientific inquiry. Time to stop the insanity.

@RyanOttwell They do not consider it because USMLE is known to be a universally better exam, plus all the MD applicants take it to its easier to compare everyone on an even playing field.

Dr. Carmody is correct, COMLEX-USA is a licensing exam. It exists to protect the public by ensuring licensed OSTEOPATHIC physicians possess minimum competency in OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE.
Bryan Carmody@jbcarmody

COMLEX-USA is a licensing exam - not an assessment of distinctiveness. It exists to protect the public by ensuring licensed physicians possess minimum competency. In a world in which MDs and DOs function interchangeably, it’s hard to see how those minimum competencies differ.

@eberger_do Should our frustration be at the programs and faculty who don’t consider the COMLEX? I took the USMLE only to be considered at traditional allopathic residencies, not because it was a better examination. I hear your frustration, but the blame is much more widespread.

@DavidBroderDO Yes, and DO students are frustrated that in order to be competitive for residency they have to take TWO licensing exams and pay double the price. That is a failure of the AOA, NBOME, and COMLEX. Especially since Comlex is a much worse exam in quality.

Unearned authorship pervades science. Since authorship is the "currency of the realm" in academia, this really must be addressed. nature.com/articles/d4158…

The bulk of people fighting science misinformation are people with undergraduate or graduate degrees in science, who are unemployed, don't perform research, don't publish papers, are strongly aligned with one political party, and half of what they say is incorrect. What a joke.

I greatly appreciate the high quality lecture @olsonplanner gave to our residency program today. He is an invaluable resource to have when managing the waters of student debt, loan repayments, and investing!

It’s important to note that while residents may make $60,000/year and many people make that amount or less, if they have student debt in the realm of $300,000, their annual interest expense is about $18,000. So it certainly doesn’t feel like they’re making $60,000.
