Four Exercises ➡️ Same Hip Pattern The swing sets the stage for the clean. The clean sets up a solid press position. The high pull sets up the snatch. The snatch is full body conditioning. All require snappy hip extension.

@T_Nation Blue in Green by Miles Davis I don't listen to music often when I lift but when I do it's moody 50's jazz.

@T_Nation As long as you’re not coming off an injury or a low back tweak, they can definitely strengthen the low back. Start with bodyweight first and increase your range of motion and confidence in the movement prior to adding weight.

@Jungle__Jay Great set up! Very similar to my equipment at home. A pull up/dip bar is next on the list for me. Love how much open floor space you have.

Cancelled my gym membership last month Going all in on simple at home training. Current set up includes: - Pull up bar - parallel bars + dip bar - Gymnastics rings - Adjustable incline bench - DB's - Kettlebells - Bands - Bulgarian bag Doing a lot of bodyweight / calisthenics.. Lot of “GOATA” training as I rehab some nagging injuries Been a gym bro for years. Powerlifting & bodybuilding for many years. Been transitioning out of that into a more functional approach last few years Plus we live in the country.. closest nice gym is 35 min away So the time savings as a parent is massive

@Coachgriffin88 The 3 most common splits I use for clients and myself are: 1. Full Body each session 2. Upper Push/Lower Pull day & Upper Pull/Lower Push day 3. Upper day & Lower day Those skeletons can get as nuanced as needed depending on the client.

Say no to the bro. Bro splits are good for bodybuilder’s, but for the vast majority of people, it’s not the best option. Not enough bang for your buck in each session. Coaches, in general, how do you split sessions for your clients/the people you coach?

@thesamparr This is an excellent read! I’m about halfway through so far. The idea that what we pay attention to is our lived experience really stood out. A simple but needed reminder.

I’m reading a book that’s so depressing that it has made me happy. Its called 4000 Weeks. 4000 weeks is roughly the average human life. The premise of the book is: 1. We’ll all die any minute now. 2. Time efficiency hacks just make you more busy. 3. Accept you can do very few things in life and commit to only a few things. The last thing on commitment, I think is the most important: “And not only should you settle: ideally, you should settle in a way that makes it harder to back out, such as moving in together, or getting married, or having a child. The great irony of all our efforts to avoid facing finitude - to carry on believing that it might be possible not to have to choose between mutually exclusive options - is that when people finally do choose, in a relatively irreversible way, they're usually much happier as a result. We'll do almost anything to avoid burning our bridges, to keep alive the fantasy of a future unconstrained by limitation, yet having burned them, we're generally pleased that we did so.”

Before you switch your program up, make sure you're giving it the level of effort needed to actually get results.
