I recently was somewhat critical of “shiny jacket guy” behind home plate at Blue Jays games.
He then invited me to a game in order to get to know him better.
I had a lot of questions. He answered them all.

Brandon Valenzuela is a stud defensively.
Notice how catchers don't throw to the bag anymore. Each of these throws is right where he wants it, down the line toward 1B so the fielder can catch and apply the tag earlier on the runner. Replay has helped the game learn this is better than throwing to the base.

@KeeganMatheson I was honestly hoping for a Sosa DFA. The fit was always suspect from Day 1. Bad defence and awful career OBP. Seemed completely antithetical to the Jays' MO, and he hasn't done himself any favours since becoming a Jay.
