@wesleytypes @OveeSG @MegaCrit Idk how or when it happened but seemingly no one accurately uses the phrase "review bombing" correctly. People expressing their discontent of a game they have bought/played via reviews is not review bombing.

OR, you keep the initial review that accurately describes the whole experience of the game and if there's an issue you just release a statement or article that says "so and so game is great but I would hold off in the meantime". The issue with review bombing like this is that it's a hissy fit. With a game like Slay The Spire II, it'll pass. It's just a tantrum.

Because Steam user reviews are not really reviews in the traditional sense. Instead, they're used as a bargaining chip to communicate real time grievances with game updates, bugs, and developer choices at the expense of a game's actual overall quality and reputation. This is one of the many reasons why I don't trust user reviews and scores.

Engineering might be super sub-par in Midnight, but it does have one amazing thing: an embellishment that causes races with special jump animations to ALWAYS use that special animation. It's useable even by non-engineers too, and doesn't count towards the 2-embellishment cap.

@jdotb Idk if hot take - but I think since Nerubar Liquid have been FAR and above the absolute gods of optimizing damage (& its not even close). Looking at fights like Queen, Mug'zhee, and now Midnight Falls, Liquid are just SO far ahead on DPS checks compared to Echo on the kills.

unenviable spot for echo. the last couple tiers have been a literal coin flip where they just got unlucky, but 4 losses in a row will be hard to stomach. have to start examining all parts of the guild, have some tough conversations

@ttzmailuk @VTuberHistorian (Preface - Iyrs did nothing wrong) ChatGPT is just as bad as generative images and is just as built on stolen work. Authors have been fighting for years against LLMs like GPT because they've trained on (stolen) their work (exactly like generative image AI).

That’s the most basic of programming that’s been around for a long ass time before Ai made everyone paranoid.

@MarvlousL55921 @NeonYugen That's valid - I guess my biggest issue would then probably be that it's still not perfect and made even worse since so many stories copy the trope w/o doing the backstory to actually make it feel somewhat appropriate (since Taiga is a prolific character for the trope).

@Ryukurai875 @NeonYugen Taiga DOES at least get better throughout the series. That moment saving Ryuji and having a valid crashout towards the retards who didn't even bother to look out for him is one of them. Up until that point, he was the only one that seemed to give a shit.

Now I finally understand why Taiga Aisaka is called one of the greatest classic tsundere ever. She acts angry, she shouts, she denies everything… yet she’s the one who cares the most.

@rkeeler67 @NeonYugen Yeah, I mean it's also like - when you lead too much w/ stuff like that, it makes it hard to root for the MC. I disliked Plunderer for a similar reason - MC was immediately unlikeable, which made later redeeming acts feel like trying to pull up rather than flaws in a good person.

@Ryukurai875 @NeonYugen Someone else FINALLY gets it. What kills me though, is by the time they DO confess, for me, the damage to their character is done. Also, for future, I learned recently that this is called a tsunGIRE as opposed to tsunDERE. There's an entire wiki on dere-types, it's really cool.

@degeneratelee @NeonYugen I don't really delve into novels much (it's harder to binge dozens of ch/v than it is to watch 12-24 ep). This is a fair point but even w/ that in mind it still makes it hard to like/root for the char in question (esp since most stories don't give this same sort of justification)

@Ryukurai875 @NeonYugen The novels point out she knew she was wrong but had no other way to express herself since she was basically abandoned as a child and lashing out was a form of self defence

@TheoryofHope @Bashame2007 @NeonYugen I try and sit through even <6 shows bc sometimes they are small/minor things they do well. Usually I only drop shows if I find something esp. egregious - easy examples are Ueno-san and Ef:ToM (Ueno-san was too much, and Ef: felt gross).

@TheoryofHope @Bashame2007 @NeonYugen Yeah... If I was to rate literally everything, it'd probably be in the 7-ish range. I tend to be generous bc I like acknowledging things that are done well, even in objectively bad/mid anime (like the main relationship in Wise Man's Grandchild).

The dogshit ending actually pissed me off to the point I bothered giving it a score (1 bc 0 isn't an option). Never seen an anime fumble the bag so hard when it had so much going for it.

@Ryukurai875 @NeonYugen Taiga isn't nearly as bad as Louise is. Yeah, she has her moments, but they're few and far between compared to Louise who consistently abuses and berates her alleged "love interest" far more than one could realistically tolerate.

@DerisTrome @NeonYugen I don't think so - Tsumiki from Acchi Kocchi is a great example of how you don't have to have your Tsundere characters beating up on their love interest
