@henrywinter Makes an absolute mockery of the premier leagues £10 million fine for Chelsea for committing fraud

Southampton kicked out of Championship play-off final for spying. Correct decision, especially as it transpires they spied on three clubs in total. This is about more than a bloke standing behind a tree with an iPhone. It’s about how seriously the game should take cheating. EFL independent disciplinary commission have struck a blow for fair play, for integrity, for the need for respect between clubs, for coaches to have an expectation of privacy in training. 25% of goals scored in the Championship this season were from set-pieces. Clubs practised them. Understandably, coaches don’t want their plans revealed. EFL sending a strong message with this punishment.
Spygate 2 different from Spygate 1. Rules tightened and punishments introduced since Leeds United’s offence. Appeals, of course. It’s tough for Southampton fans to be denied the trip to Wembley and the chance of a return to the Premier League. It’s particularly tough that many have forked out for tickets, travel and accommodation. Their frustration and anger should be directed at their club. Southampton should recompense fans. It’s not the fans’ fault.
The stupidity in all this is that Southampton would probably have beaten Boro anyway. Better team, stronger bench. But this is so damning… “Southampton admitted breaches of Regulations requiring Clubs to act with the utmost good faith and prohibiting the observation of another Club’s training session within 72 hours of a scheduled match,” says EFL. “The admitted breaches concern fixtures against Oxford United in December 2025, Ipswich Town in April 2026 and Middlesbrough in May 2026.” So the punishment is proportionate. It should act as a deterrent. Honesty matters.

@ScottGShore 1000% just said the same thing our fanbase are so stupid. Jose not good enough for us ends up at Madrid. Maresca not better than Howe gone Man City. Iraola not an upgrade going to a top club. Why isn’t Howe getting these jobs???? He will drive all our best players out
English

Tonali to Man City 100% for me especially now maresca is there
I’m actually getting with the idea of getting rid of him and bringing in Lamine camara

@psmithy388 @Im_RobM Howe is absolutely the problem here but @PIF_en and @jamiereuben are so blinded by apathy we’re sleepwalking into being the next spurs. I guarantee if a Jose or a elite manager walked through the door nobody would want out
English

@Ryzilla85 @Im_RobM I know they won’t all go but I posted to Craig Hope the same question, it’s like a sinking ship but Howe isn’t the problem apparently.

@Nufc2Everything No not eddies fault it’s the fanbase fault for not trusting him

Hall all in one window on top of the out of contract players. But all these Eddie Howe in fan boys have to start asking why all our top players want away

🚨🗣️ Eddie Howe on Sandro Tonali :
"I think Sandro felt his hamstring. I don’t think it was a big injury, but it was enough for him to come off. We’ll see how he is for the final game."

@GraemeBailey @TEAMtalk Mourinho maresca and Iraola according to the Eddie Howe betwetters at Newcastle are all managers not good enough to replace Howe
English

Andoni Iraola is emerging as one of the most in-demand coaches in European football this summer, with @TEAMtalk understanding that Liverpool are among a growing list of clubs, including three within Germany, that hold a strong admiration for the Spaniard.
