Zohran Mamdani and the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection have ordered food delivery app HungryPanda to pay back 380 local restaurants more than $875,000.
Most of these restaurants are immigrant-owned. HungryPanda, a platform most popular in predominantly Asian neighborhoods, overcharged hundreds of restaurants for deliveries while promoting fraudulent promotions and deductions.
Mamdani calls the order a victory for the immigrant community.
