Today, I supported an individual to #interview 🗨️ for the role of his Key Worker! We used #accessible questions that he had chosen prior and a #whiteboard so he could take notes 📝He even dressed in his suit for the occasion 🕴️🎉 An amazing day for #advocacy 🌟🙌 #slt #mysltday

It's #LD Week! As #SLTs we aim to make #communication more #accessible and easier for the #peoplewesupport 🗣️One example are these welcome #leaflets we made for someone as part of their #transistion. We heard he loves leaflets and wanted to make our approach #personcentred! 📜

This week I attended my first #initial #assessment 📝 This was a great opportunity to be involved in an #MDT discussion representing @SALT_HG! 🎉 I was able to gather info on #communication 💬 and #dysphagia 👄 and then present my opinion to the wider team - amazing experience!

It's World #AssistiveTech Day! As #SLTs we are surrounded by forms of assistive tech to support #communication. One of our faves is the use of #TalkingButtons to support an individual with a #visual #impairment. Each morning, staff can introduce themselves with the button! 🔘🗣️

Today we've been doing some #waterplay! 🌊 We use these resources to teach #concepts to our individuals 🥳 Currently, we are working on #transitioning ➡️and #processing time ⏲️ Our individuals also love the #sensory element of these sessions - so beneficial for #regulating #SLT

During our team meeting, we were joined by @DiverDanielle from @BarnsleyAT! The mid-tech #devices on show gave us a amazing insight into #adaptedcommunication as well as great discussions about neuro-affirming practice in relation to #AAC - amazing team #CPD! 🎉

We found an amazing resource today at the #AutismShow! A Conversation Repair book 📖 allowing an individual to communicate whilst build on literacy skills + emotional understanding 🙌 catch us on BH Monday working out how to create this amazing resource #SLT #AAC #SpeechTherapy

It's National Conversation Week! #NatConvWeek 🗨️ As #speechandlanguagetherapists we wanted to highlight the many ways our individuals converse ✏️🖼️🖐️To support them we use #Makaton, #symbols, #writing to name a few but there are many ways we support and celebrate #communication!

Over at Low Laithes today we have been #transcribing! We have created a modified #STAP #assessment🧾 which presents images one at a time so to not overwhelm - it also slows down the #speech production which is an added bonus for us! ✏️💬

In honour of #DementiaAwareness week we're highlighting the ways in which #SLTs can help people with #dementia 🧠 and their families 👪 Working with #adults with a #learningdisability we want to raise awareness of the increased risk our population has with regards to the disease

It's #MentalHealth #Awareness Week! 🧠 People with a #learningdisability are at an increased risk of experiencing mental health problems BUT #SLTs can offer #support, #strategies, and #resources to enable people with #LD to talk about their #emotions and #feelings 🖼️💬
