As a co-organizer of the first series of Women Peace and Security (WPS) Regional Learning Series @LeadersAfrica hosted by the Southern Africa Women Peace and Security Coalition @_AfricanUnion @FemWiseAfrica I joined our eloquent speakers at the forefront of advancing Women, Peace and Security Boitumelo Lehutso, Catherine Kapilima & Yolokazi Mfuto. It was an absolute pleasure to share a situational analysis of the women, peace and security in the SADC region outlining key progress made to date. 🔖10 out of 16 member states in have developed National Action Plans for WPS Agenda. 🔖 The NPA’s are in alignment with the SADC Regional Strategy on Women, Peace and Security and UNSRC 1325.

Food security doesn't happen by accident , it takes political will, long-term investment, and coordination across borders. The Kampala CAADP Declaration, signed by African Heads of State, is a significant step in that direction. It sets a shared framework for building agrifood systems that can withstand climate shocks, reduce hunger, and create livelihoods, especially for smallholder farmers who feed most of the continent. As a Zimbabwean-Zambian youth professional, I reflect on the enduring legacy of Kenneth Kaunda, a Pan-African statesman whose commitment to humanism, liberation & regional solidarity continues to guide our generation. He was not only a leader of Zambia, but a servant of Africa, belonging to all who believe in dignity, cooperation & collective progress. Today's marathon, reminds us that nation-building is not about policy and institutions, but also about collective well-being, active citizenship & unity of purpose. Last week at #SpringMeetings2026, we convened "Unlocking Capital for Africa's Water Security and Sanitation" with the goal of moving Africa's water financing from pledges to pipelines. Africa faces a $30B annual financing gap. 90% of its surface water is transboundary, yet only 29% of shared basins have cooperative frameworks. Private capital is ready — but it needs reform signals first.

SADC with support from Germany Government through the “Strengthening the National-Regional Linkages in SADC” (SNRL) programme, is conducting Capacity Building Workshop in support of Angola’s quest to contribute and accelerate the implementation of the SADC regional integration and development agenda. The four-day workshop which is taking place from 20-23 April 2026 in Luanda, Republic of Angola, has drawn participants from various Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies responsible for the implementation and advancement of the priorities of the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030 and Vision 2050.
