@DisavowedVet Economies like that depend on some other sucker buying your surplus. If the US the global sucker, did that, there won't be buyers and the economy shuts down

@DisavowedVet See Japan's lost decade, now decades. Also note Japan has among the lowest fertility on Earth do to these policies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Deca… TL;DR too much savings boosts asset prices which crush the economy much as we are seeing in the US

@Still_AOK I'm good with that but functional economics is a system with rules and the wealthy often aided by the state, cheat to make sure, no you in fact can't get more money

@SAcerton So make yourself more valuable to someone. The economy isn't changing to suit you. Grow up, Pal, it's only money. You can always get more.

We've been through the rubbish the OP is talking about before. People pushing Japan style savings ethos that would within a half decade destroy the global economy or South Korean 100 hour work week which would do worse. The only way for growth and consumption is wages

If you got a $5 coffee every single day (which nobody does) that'd be about $1800 If you got it every work day, 5 days/wk, 50 weeks/yr, that'd be $1250 If nobody ever got $5 coffee, coffee shops would all close and rich people would blame Millennials & Zoomers for that too

@rwpopulist @darkprometheus1 @revenant_MMXX Over the years there have been quite a few austerity pushes, we should save like Japan, work like South Korea (at the time 80+ hours) and all that. All the blathering of credential idiots If we had done that? The US would not have an economy at all do to no buyers or demand

@darkprometheus1 @revenant_MMXX Even if that number is accurate, the question you avoid is: why shouldn't they? Inflation makes saving actively foolish. If they don't spend it they still can't really move up in life. So if they're stuck, why not at least enjoy small basic things in the mean time?

@darkprometheus1 @revenant_MMXX Do we want an economy or not? We need consumption to have an economy and every time we push wages down we push down consumption Wages are at most 25% of costs but baring money printing are basically all consumption The solution is to pay more. Its not hard

You fail to recognize the point cause you lack the intelligence. People who are buying a 5 dollar coffee arwnt just doing that 5 dollar coffee. Some days its more and if you look at theie finances, that 5 dollar coffee also includes other spending. The statistics dont lie. Millinials and gen Z spend nearly 20,000 on average on eating out. That isnt a 5 dollar coffee.

The wokester fixation on wading in as Great White Rescuers and fixing the problems of dark-skinned people in distant countries, while ignoring the problems their own policies are causing here at home, reminds me forcefully of Mrs. Jellaby from Charles Dickens’ Bleak House, full of plans for the poor people of distant Boorioboola-gha, while her own children suffer from constant neglect.

@1RationalMan @LadyDemosthenes There are ways to fix it but most if it involves heavy taxes on anyone above a certain standard of living threshold and possibly profit controls

@1RationalMan @LadyDemosthenes This creates asset inflation and when combined with stagnate wages to do arbitrage and efficiency and prince inflation do to money printing , makes for the high misery index and stagflation

When the mob was raging and rabbling for higher minimum wage, they were warned “this will raise costs.” “No!” they screamed, “that will never happen.” Which brings us to the present where the mob is raging and rabbling about how expensive fast food is… Surely no correlation.

@GSloth79 @1RationalMan @LadyDemosthenes Prices do go up with some with wage increases. So does consumer spending which makes recoverable Also wages make up around 25% or less of most costs so increases don't hit as hard as you think. The current inflation is do to money printing during COVID

@1RationalMan @LadyDemosthenes Government makes minimum wage $26/hr. Businesses now operate at a loss, all prices go up to make up the loss. Now to survive you need to make $36/hr. This problem cannot be solved by the government making laws.

@LucaAbides @Orthocoma25 @BrandonJ29377 We have a moral system though. It functions differently than yours. Also worthwhile Pagans and that alas isn't all of us have a code of honor which is far more important than morals

I keep seeing posts of President Nixon eating cottage cheese and pineapple for lunch - with a glass of milk. My grandfather ate a grapefruit for breakfast, then a tomato/lettuce sandwich for lunch. Our ancestors were thin because they didn’t eat much! We can do it too….

One of us is LARPing as something he’s not, keyboard crusader who hid himself under the cover of a Pagan name. Imagine having so little self-worth that you need to dress in drag as the thing you despise. This is the hilarious thing. E-crusaders assert this having no idea that we know more about Roman polytheist rituals and beliefs than scholars know about early Christianity. I can tell you what a Roman offering would look like, the incense or libation that would be used depending on if the deity is male or female, the epithets that would be used for each God, the stages of the ceremony, I can give you the entire calendar of festivals and tell you the deity which would be honored and how it would be celebrated, I can tell you if the ritual was done under the Roman rite or Greek rite. All of this survives. I can tell you all of this. But do you know what I can’t tell you? What a second century church service looked like. We know all this about our religion, despite the fact that none of this knowledge is required. The Gods are the continuity. E-crusaders invent problems for Paganism based on their own ignorance, not realizing these are problems that only exist inside their heads. You should work in a movie theater because this is some real projection.
Cato@Cato_secundus

@LaxmiKhali @Trierarch81 Larpers* They have no idea of what the old pagan religions meant or were supposed to be practised. Kids pretending to be Sailor Moon and shit

@Orthocoma25 @BrandonJ29377 Not violating the law isn't a moral choice, but a risk calculation. Is what I want is worth the risk, than so be it However this calculation isn't for everyone. I am a low desire person with a Buddhist outlook so desire to me is something best managed for a good life
