Over two weeks in February,15 technicians from #Amhara, #Oromia & #Tigray regions took part in specialized training by @ICRC & @OI_Eau in Bahir Dar. The training focused on pump installation & maintenance,strengthening urban water systems in conflict-affected areas of #Ethiopia.

Conflict affects women and girls in profound ways, from displacement & lost livelihoods to sexual violence and barriers to health care. On #IWD2026, we recognize their resilience and honor the women across the ICRC and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement who stand with them.

The Regional High-Level & Expert Workshop on International Humanitarian Law & Disarmament opened today in Addis Ababa. Co-hosted by #Ethiopia, co-chair of the IHL & Peace Workstream under the Global Initiative on IHL, with @ICRC & @_AfricanUnion, it convenes 32 African States.

The conflict in West Wellega, #Oromia, forced farmers to flee their homes & lose access to their land. We replaced their lost assets to enable them to farm again. “With the support of the Red Cross, I was able to buy an ox to plough a farm,”said Bacha Marga, a displaced farmer.

For more than 160 years, we, the International Committee of the Red Cross, guided by the Geneva Conventions, have worked to protect lives, reunite families, and bring dignity in the midst of war. Wherever and whenever people need us, we remain.

Dowhan Primary Hospital, in Eastern Zone, #Tigray, was looted & damaged during the active hostilities. Health services were provided in rooms with broken roofs, windows & doors. @ICRC renovated the emergency & operating blocks, ensuring proper conditions for healthcare delivery.
