Goodbye Mayberry…
North Carolina was once America’s Mayberry.
Quiet streets where kids rode bikes until the streetlights came on. Neighbors who left doors unlocked. Small towns where a handshake and a man’s word still meant something. Peaceful. Safe. Innocent.
That North Carolina is dying.
Today it looks more like Baltimore, Philly, or Chicago.
Shootings in Asheville. Crime waves in Charlotte. Carjackings in Raleigh. Families afraid to walk their own neighborhoods after dark.
We traded safe communities for soft-on-crime policies, revolving-door justice, and politicians who care more about criminals than victims.
The soul of our state — that gentle, wholesome Mayberry spirit — is slipping away.
Mayberry Elegy.
Rest in peace to the North Carolina we loved.
Who else misses the old North Carolina? What will it take to bring her back?

@Jainadave_ Eating the same meals….. that’s starting to work. Body fat% finally going down.

@JeffSmithGolf Can we stop with these pictures?? 😂😂 It’s so childish. That’s John Rahms crowd. I can post a picture of Scottie’s crowd last week at Doral and say, wow, great crowds at Doral.

Vibe at LIV Golf Virginia is big league: Big course. Big crowds. Big stars.
DeRahmbo group is box office gold. #LIVGolf #LIVGolfVirginia

@Super70sSports How many of those ejections were against Tommy Lasorda’s Dodgers?? 😂😂 Probably a lot.
English

Super Sky Point to Bobby Cox, who piloted the Braves to 14 division titles and a World Series triumph. Perhaps most impressively, he was ejected 161 times during his Hall of Fame career. That’s an entire season of righteous anger. Tell St. Peter to watch balls and strikes. #RIP

@robsportstalkfl South Africa, Australia, Spain…..they need to put up the money to keep it going. It can’t rely on US advertising dollars.

@NUCLRGOLF @thetimes Most international LIV players probably. They can go back to their countries and enjoy their lives. They all made more than enough to retire. I don't see Cameron Smith eager to go live in the states, and they owe nothing to the PGA tour...
English

🚨🏌️🙅🏼♂️ #JOKE — In an exclusive with @thetimes, LIV Golfer Anirban Lahiri laughed off the theory LIV golfers are ready to jump ship and head back to the PGA Tour: “That is the biggest joke ever. I will not name names but I know at least a dozen players who’d rather not play golf than go back to the PGA Tour.”
When asked what’s wrong with the PGA Tour, Lahiri said: “I’m not going to answer because I don’t want this to be a hate thing,” he says. “I played on the PGA Tour for seven years and really enjoyed my time there. I learnt a lot about the business of golf and some of the things I learnt disillusioned me. I’ll leave it at that.
“That was enough for me not to want to go back, but that’s me personally. I’m sure others have different opinions of it and I respect that as well, but to generalise that everybody is falling over backwards to come back to the PGA Tour is the same kind of propaganda we’ve had for four years.”

@MarkPacker I saw your twin playing at the Masters. He seemed to have a security team following him on the course. I’ve never seen that before.

@FanaticLurker @WerderEdNFL Yeah I was at one of those REM shows. They got booed.
English

Similar story with REM back in 1989/1990. They came out and played Orange Crush, Stand and Superman, then played all new stuff for an hour. Imagine an entire crowd of college kids sitting down in bewilderment. My wife fell asleep. Michael Stipe ended up screaming at a fan in the front row that he would play what he wanted so stop yelling out requests.
English

John Mellencamp, who came out and told crowd if they were there to hear his hits, they were in wrong place — or would be waiting a very long time. We walked out four songs in.

@wholemars I don't see how Honda is not above Toyota. Also with all the mistakes Ford is making how are they still in the top 10?

I think likely LIV management were blindsided.
I can only go by reports... but best as I can put the timeline together...
• At LIV Riyadh in Feburary, Yasir apparently told players/staff the long term commitment to LIV was still in place.
• Generalities of a revised 2026-30 PIF focus came out ~March 1 (day after war started), but seemed to raise only a few minor speculative concerns RE LIV. At least externally.
• O'Niel comments prior to this year's Masters (and even early that week) seemed to indicate they thought they still had a long runway 2030-32...
• But apparently by Sunday (Apr 12) of that week, things were changing fast. Word was circulating LIV was in trouble and high level LIV meetings were being put together.
• Monday Q released his bombshell on the evening of Tuesday the 14th. NYTimes was in the process of buttoning up a larger story at the same time, and they and others were filling in the details thru the 15th... same day PIF's 2026-2030 plan was formalized and made public... by the end of the 15th, the 💩 really hit the fan frim all angles.
• The LIV PR spin/denials and false media accusations were rapidly breaking down thru LIV Mexico and the next week.
• Past Sun-Mon, word of LIV Louisiana cancellation was leaking. Confirmed Tue 28th
• Later on same day and the next, word of PIF formally confirming they were done at end of season, and Yasir resigning from LIV came out...
And here we are...
Kevin Spollen@KevinSpollen
@Robopz @BobHarig @22michael3 So did the people running LIV know months prior and fail miserably or were they caught off guard?

@NiallHarbison Amazing story, I’ve looked forward to the updates all week. The smile on Rocky’s face at the end of the clip is priceless.
