Multiple reports today of someone claiming to be one of our Sergeants (and using his name), claiming that people missed court or jury duty and need to pay a fine to avoid arrest. This is NOT US and we NEVER call people about matters like this.

FAKE NEWS on social media. We are aware of social media posts this morningreporting multiple injury accidents and a fatality based on “scanner reports.” A previously announced training exercise is underway at the airport, and all radio traffic is part of the training scenario.

The Nebraska State Patrol is mourning the tragic loss of Trooper Kyle McAcy #302, who gave his life in the line of duty this morning while assisting motorists who had been involved in a crash on Interstate 80 near Ashland. Trooper McAcy has been a dedicated Trooper for 10 years and an incredible friend to countless people. Scam reported TODAY. Caller ID showed Sheriff’s Office number, caller claimed to be a Deputy and there were warrants for the person called, wanted money or person would be arrested. Total SCAM, not us, crooks decide what number shows up in your caller ID.

Fraud alert! Reports of “jury duty scam” callers “spoofing” our phone number and representing themselves as Sheriffs personnel, demanding money to avoid arrest. NOT US, and NO law enforcement agency will ever call you to demand money to avoid arrest.

Sugar Factory Road and County Road 22 are closed from County Road G to Lake Minatare Rd due to downed power lines. Avoid the area power crews not on scene yet it is dangerous.

Natural gas leak in the area of Scotts Bluff Country Club, line cut by construction crew. Gas will be off for residents on Blue Jay Ct and Cardinal Drive. Highway 71 closed temporarily, expected to open within the hour.
