@NormalGayPsych Sounds almost identical to my take, except for the marriage part, which would financially hamstring us in the case of me and my partner. Otherwise, quiet life, dogs, grilling, paying taxes (too many in WA), and no insane agenda. Most of us are like this, I honestly believe.

I’m gay. I’ve known it my whole life. I love my husband, we have a quiet life, a house, jobs, dogs, and zero interest in parades, flags on every building, or turning everything into a political statement. I don’t want to be part of the 'queer' scene or the LGBTQIA+ machine. That’s not my community. I just want to live a normal life — get married (once), pay taxes, grill on weekends, and be left alone. The rainbow circus and its endless activism stopped speaking for me a long time ago. Most gay people I know feel the same. We’re not 'communists,' we’re not revolutionaries, and we’re tired of being lumped in with the loud minority that makes everything weird and mandatory. Live and let live. That’s it.

Imagining a world w/out cassette tapes isn't comparable to imagining a world without prisons. 1) The advent of other forms of recordable media replaced cassette tapes. No harm came to anyone when cassette tapes were phased out. 2) I have yet to hear a single member of the DSA propose a plausible alternative to the carceral system that keeps society safe.

@LeahRain77 In most states, 55+ communities have an allowance for a percentage of under 55 residents. It's almost never a hard and fast 55+ only rule. Something like 15% of the community population. Worth looking into in this instance.

This is happening in Jacksonville, Florida at a 55+ community. A 28-year-old girl was living there with her father who was ill when he passed. He gave the home to his daughter, and she wants to remain living in the community.. well the HOA has decided to enforce the 55 and over law, and is asking for $1000 from 155 members in the community to sue her to get her out of the neighborhood because she’s 28 years old, not 55+. In my opinion, this is despicable. These HOA‘s have way too much power. This sh!t has to stop.

27 states currently provide female-only athletics for K-12 athletes. Notice how there have been no reports of "genital inspections," no massive upticks in male suicides or increased instances of bullying in those states. Also note how boys in those states have simply returned to or have always been just fine playing on teams with other boys. @WellsJorda89710 Many WA and OR clinic systems do this automatically at age 13. Not all, but many. It's law in WA that at 13 years of age, a child can independently make most medical decisions and parents can be locked out of the process without the child's consent. Wild!

Competition is good. It powers our economy and drives down prices for consumers. Mega-mergers like the one between Paramount and Warner Bros. harm workers, consumers, and the public. If this merger goes through, you’ll pay more for less: more expensive movie tickets and cable subscriptions and less choice. That’s why we’re going to court to stop it.
