Del Toro was great until he became popular enough to do whatever he wants. The Devil’s Backbone through Hellboy 2 was a generational 5-movie run and every movie he’s done since then I thought was overrated, especially Frankenstein (which I hate)

I’ll take Hellboy 2, Pan’s Labyrinth, and The Devil’s Backbone over The Shape of Water at the very least. Hellboy 2 is a comic book movie that in my opinion was thematically deeper than Shape of Water
I do think Del Toro is overrated
