An MoU was signed between The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd., Container Corporation of India Ltd., Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Chennai Port Authority and Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd. to collaboratively establish a Joint Venture Company, The Bharat Container Shipping Line. This partnership aims to strengthen India’s maritime and logistics capabilities.

Self-Reliant Container Policy Gains Momentum, MoU Signed for India Container Shipping Line. New Delhi. News Tanks Under the Self-Reliant India (#AtmanirbharBharat ) campaign, the #government has taken a major step towards establishing a national container #Shipping line by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the India Container Shipping Line (BCSL). Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Ashwini Vaishnaw were present at the event. The agreement was signed between Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, @ChennaiPort Authority, and @SDCL_India. The government plans an investment of ₹59,000 crore to promote a national container fleet and domestic container manufacturing, which will strengthen EXIM logistics and reduce dependence on foreign shipping companies. Additionally, a separate MoU worth ₹15,000 crore has been signed for the Outer Harbour Project at Tuticorin Port. A tripartite MoU was also inked for the ₹15,000 crore Outer Harbour Expansion at VOC Port, Tuticorin, positioning our eastern coast as a global trade gateway. From manufacturing containers to sailing them on Indian ships, we are translating the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 into reality. A strong maritime sector means a stronger, #ViksitBharat.
