SDPD is losing officers—and fast! Dozens have left to other agencies within the county in 2025 alone and hundreds have left within the last few years. Replacements aren’t keeping up with these losses. At this pace, the department can’t recover. A strong competitive contract isn’t optional—it’s the only way to stop the losses and keep officers with SDPD.

On March 4th San Diego Sheriff Deputy Mike Lalanne’s wife Ivonne Lalanne suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke. Medical professionals quickly performed life-saving measures placing her on a ventilator. Ivonne remains in Tri-City Hospital’s ICU and awaits further surgery where a shunt will be placed in her head to help control the deep bleed in her brain. Medical professionals say Ivonne is unable to move her left side and will most likely need extensive rehabilitation to learn basic skills such as walking and speaking. As of today, it is uncertain what her recovery will look like. Ivonne’s family are asking for help to cover any medical expenses. This Thursday, February 12th the Community Youth Athletics Center is hosting their second registration for the 21st annual battle of the badges. Taking part in this event helps support San Diego’s youth as they work towards success. We hope to see you there!

The National Association of Police Organizations has officially endorsed the “No Tax on Restored Benefits Act”. This act will repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset— which have for years harmed retirement security for Officers.

Today was my last full day as the SDPOA President, thank you all for the support! In two weeks I will be starting as the Motor Lieutenant, so watching every episode of CHIPS as a kid 10x is about to pay off!
