JUST IN — 🇺🇸🇮🇷🇪🇺 Hegseth says Europe should say “thank you” for the war with Iran: "The world, the Middle East, our ungrateful allies in Europe, even segments of our own press, should be saying one thing to president Trump: 'Thank you!'"

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if infrastructure like this 👇 gets blown up, as of this moment it will take at least a decade to recover from this war - and the truth is that the world's energy picture is probably changed forever. This single facility 👇produced roughly 20% of global LNG supply (aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/18…) and, as of 2011, had taken $70 billion to build (energyintel.com/0000017b-a7be-…). What makes this even worse is that Iran's strike on this was retaliation after Israel attacked their South Pars gas field which draws from the same natural gas reservoir, which is the world's largest by far (9,700 km² - about the size of Qatar itself). Heck, on the list of the 25 largest natural gas fields (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_n…) this single reservoir holds roughly 40% of their combined recoverable reserves - and is nearly 6 times bigger than the 2nd biggest field in the world. And, unlike many of the others on the list, it's only at 10% depletion (meaning 90% of the gas is still there). Which means that, probably for many years, a huge share of the gas from the world's largest reservoir simply won't be extractable, as infrastructure on both sides - Qatar's and Iran's - has now been blown up. From a global energy supply perspective, we're deep into worst-case scenario territory.

Bessent himself said it 👇 It's just too good, going to war against Iran and the outcome 3 weeks into it is they remove sanctions on Iranian oil. No scenarist could have written that one 😅 x.com/i/status/20346…
Rapid Response 47@RapidResponse47

.@SecScottBessent: In the coming days, we may unsanction the Iranian oil that's on the water. It's about 140 million barrels, so depending how you count it, that's 10 days to 2 weeks of supply, that the Iranians had been pushing out, that would have all gone to China. In essence, we'd be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of levers.

@Glenn_Diesen According to Trump, he has no control over Israël while it is destroying the global economy, because US/Israël were warned Iran would retaliate. He is signaling he is out of the escalationcontrol and is held hostage by Israël. Is Israël deliberately destroying the US?

There is zero chance that the US did not support the reckless strike on South Paris, but Trump does not want responsibility for the consequences.

Things are just unbelievably surreal right now. Israel attacks an Iranian gas platform saying they have US permission. Trump freaks out saying that there will be no more such attacks by Israel. While simultaneously Reuters reports that Trump is considering sending (more) good old American boys to seize Kharg island and the Iranian coastline along the Strait of Hormuz - something that may cost many American lives. Arab and British participants in the negotiations with Iran think Iran was ready to hand over its nuclear fuel and consider that Witkoff and Kushner were serving Israeli interests rather more than US interests. Trump starts a war with Iran under influence from Netanyahu. It becomes plainer by the moment that Israel is trying to lock Trump and the US into a total all-out war against Iran. All while it also becomes clearer that Trump was far more involved with Epstein and his 'fascination with young ladies' than most of us ever knew and was quite possibly a participant in the 'parlour games' (see video) of a suspected Mossad asset who allegedly habitually secretly filmed the 'parlour games' in question. In the meantime the rest of the world and billions of ordinary lives go to hell in a hand basket. It reads like a very entertaining - or disturbing - holiday novel.

Tja, dit was aangekondigd door Iran, wij spiegelen de door VS-Israël getroffen doelen. Vanmorgen is de gasverwerkingsfabriek in Iran aangevallen door Israël, dan krijg je dit....
Jacki Maniel@jackimaniel

This is the direct consequence of striking South Pars that was predictable from the moment the decision was made. Iran warned explicitly during the fuel depot strikes in early March that attacking its energy infrastructure would trigger retaliatory strikes on regional energy assets. The Iranian parliament speaker said it then. The IRGC spokesperson said it then. Iran’s foreign minister said it on every major Western network. The warning was on the record for ten days before Washington approved the South Pars strike this morning. Look at what is on that evacuation list carefully. Samref Refinery in Saudi Arabia is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and ExxonMobil with a refining capacity of 400,000 barrels per day. The Jubail Petrochemical Complex is one of the largest industrial zones on Earth. Mesaieed in Qatar is affiliated with Chevron and sits adjacent to Ras Laffan, which is the LNG terminal the IEA has already called the most consequential single energy facility in the current crisis. The Al-Hasan Gas Field in the UAE feeds directly into Abu Dhabi’s domestic energy supply. This is not Iran targeting military installations. This is Iran targeting the economic model of three countries simultaneously and sending a message that is unmistakably clear: strike our energy, we strike yours, and we will keep doing it until the math becomes unbearable for the global economy. The evacuation notice format is also significant. Iran used the same format Israel has used throughout this war when warning civilians ahead of strikes. They are consciously mirroring the approach, which means this is not improvised. It is doctrine, it was planned, and the targets were selected before the South Pars strike happened. Brent crude is about to have a very bad morning.

Onbegrijpelijk.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

#WNL
