The midfield double-pivot was the least of my concerns on that one, really. Pep kept a flat, compact four-man front to deny them the ball. Rodri/Bernardo behind. That means space is elsewhere. It's on the others to take advantage.

I call those moments a contagion because I think they transmit a message to the rest of your teammates that I don't think we can play through, which then affects all future combinations and decisions, and starts spreading

I agree we struggled to get out of press.
But we did same and City too couldn't.
And went long to Haaland, that formed the basis of the battle with Saliba in tbe first half.
They also stopped going long when we stopped pressing.
We let them run over us.

@Psalmuel047 This happened consistently throughout the last 15 of the first half and most of the second half. Raya lobs it to Saka here and the press is easily broken.

@Adheydayor It's the lack of technical security at the back, see how that disappeared against Everton.
The key is that Calafiori should always be starting over Hincapie, he is very key to our build up. Plus, Odegaard also needs to be playing more, he is also necessary.

@saratu We had two shots on target. Brentford pressed them so badly that Raya was kicking it long every time, and basically giving them the ball back. The coach did nothing to help the team. Arteta doesn’t change anything.

Once City clocked that we couldn't build up with Kepa, it was curtains. We probably needed Calafiori immediately the build up issue showed up.
It didn't happen and that was it.

Not really.
We stopped pressing because Hincapie couldn't jump to back the press because he was carded.
City only attacked through the right against him all game.
Not taking him off at halftime but rather choosing to soak up pressure was where he lost the game.
