We're nearing completion of a $36 million renovation of Japantown's Peace Plaza! Led by community leaders including Jon Osaki, and developed by SF Rec & Park, the project represents the city's largest investment in the neighborhood in over 50 years. The renovation will ensure structural strengthening of the pagoda, waterproofing to protect the Japantown garage below, and new paving, trees, and interactive art displays in the pavilion. The renovation should be complete, and the Peace Plaza open again to the public later this summer!

SFDems Director Mike Chen and Member & District 2 Democratic Club President Eric Kingsbury spent Sunday afternoon in Cow Hollow/Marina area doing our monthly community coffee, listening to neighbors discuss housing, how to be more involved, and other issues on their mind.

SF Democrats, SFYD and SF ENDC had a tree-mendous Arbor Day planting over 100 trees around North Beach, Nob Hill, and Lower Nob Hill with the Dept of Public Works. Trees bring a lot of charm and practicality to neighborhoods and we look forward to seeing them grow over time!

Today I launched a “Dumb Laws” contest to identify outdated city rules, permit requirements, fees, and processes that make life harder for San Franciscans. Too often, City Hall feels slow, complicated, and harder to navigate than it should be.

He’d rather punish military families and married women than lower gas prices, food prices, health care costs. His policies crush working families and are an absolute disaster. We will vote Republicans OUT and bring relief to the American people. #MondayMotivation

In San Francisco, we are getting more people off our streets and on a path to stability. Tent encampments are at record lows, RV numbers are down, housing placements are up, and our Journey Home reforms are connecting more people with loved ones. I know there is still more work to do, but we are making progress and will continue delivering results.

I’m supporting Scott Wiener for Congress because he’s delivered on the hard stuff: YIMBY, standing up to dysfunction, and fighting for an SF that works. We don’t agree on everything but I back leaders who show up, take tough votes, and move the ball forward for this city.
