There's a warning cash-saving cuts to a lifeline mentoring service in Glasgow won't just destroy children's futures, but end up costing the state more overall. @mcrpathways helps thousands of disadvantaged pupils, including hundreds in the care system, get into higher education or employment. They're just two weeks away from job losses due to funding cuts from the city council. Sandy Begbie, Chief Executive of Scottish Financial Enterprise, is involved with MCR. He says the cuts don't just doom youngsters to a miserable future, but mean they're less likely to be tax-payers and more likely to end up on benefits or in the justice system Glasgow City Council say the need to find £108m worth of savings mean education budgets can no longer be protected from cuts.

Finally, this is in no way a political post, I am simply setting the record straight and am furious that our young people of Glasgow are being denied the opportunities they deserve to provide them with a better future.

They've chosen to hide behind process and, as a result, damage the chances of young people in Glasgow. This is their choice and they have a track record of doing this. Since 2020 DYW have lost over 40 of our school coordinators in Glasgow despite the funding always being secured.

As Chair of DYW, I feel the need to address the inaccuracies in this article. The Glasgow City Council spokesperson is at best simply unaware of the facts or, at worst, choosing not to tell the truth. heraldscotland.com/news/24147620.…

Our upcoming sector growth strategy will look at many of the same issues outlined in the Hunter Foundation report, and their role in our own on growth trajectory, while setting out our vision for the future of Scottish financial services.

Financial services have a central role to play. We are a vital source of strength in the Scottish economy, creating highly skilled jobs and tax revenue, and doing so with a sense of purpose on areas like net zero, D&I, financial inclusion, and supporting vulnerable customers.
