We shot a video, then I ended up on the news. “Can I Get A Deal” was a popular one for me during my raspy Hurricane and Corona deluxe era. I don’t think anyone ever thought id land any sort of “deal” or get signed to a label. I know I didn’t. As the song explains, my work was and has never been about any of that stuff. I just wanted to tell my story and show people you can succeed by being yourself. Looking back, this is why @SFRupdates @manbitesdogrecs and @anticorpmusic have all been such perfect fits. The concept for this video was to just show people what I was doing all the time back then, which was burn CDs, write on them with a sharpee, wrap them in a paper case, and hand them out to people at the price of a conversation. And of course grab a mic and rhyme whenever the chance presented itself, which thankfully for me was often. As for how I ended up on the @cbs6 news, we shot this in the midst of a First Friday where there was lots of tension about people getting violent in the street. This meant police, lots of police. The news people saw me out there all day doing my thing, they asked me if I wanted to share my thoughts and positive intent and experience on the news report. I gotta thank @brendasbaby for making the beat, @lordslugg36 for following me around with a camera and @distantdee with a radio, and @bcmusic1st for editing the mess of footage we brought back. I tired tagging everyone I saw in this clip but the names wouldn’t come up, so if you were there thank you!
