@JoshMif96 Exactly right Josh. Dickson, Gray & Mann (2008) highlight that when engaging in outdoor adventure activities, students develop interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.

Pictures can tell 1000 words and are so powerful. These books by Gwen Hew are a fantastic tool to utilise in a classroom when introducing Ss to the topic of Borneo and it’s rainforests! They will act as a great resource to spark curiosity in my unit. #UoNteach #educ4750

@JoshMif96 I agree! I wills utilise a discovery wall in my unit to keep curiosities flowing throughout its entirety. It will also act as a stimulus for future teaching.

It caters for our visual learners but can also provide open-ended discussions, as Ss experiences vary which will influence how they view images and the messages they portray

@laramcconville Exactly the reason I am utilising fieldwork in my unit Lara. Students are able to make stronger meaning to their learning when it becomes local.

@SFinlay22 I am also connecting my unit to my Ss local community via fieldwork at Woy Woy community gardens. This method not only engages Ss, it assists them in taking action which will hopefully inspire them to use this same method at a global scale.

I agree Ryan! There is no better way to connect student learning to their community than with fieldwork. Utilising local community groups and facilities will enhance learner engagement and motivation. A fantastic excursion idea to support #SDG15! #educ4750 #UoNTeach

@Rpearce1995 Even small actions can make such a huge difference! Checking the labels of food to ensure they were developed sustainability, protecting and restoring local environments or just spreading the word of the practices we can take to protect our Earths lungs.

@MissRCoops I agree Ruby! Digital technologies have profoundly changed notions of literacy, making the skill of visuality and image decoding vital to new literacy practices. I will use this poster to introduce my Ss to the global issues surrounding deforestation and aim at promoting #SDG15
