@Worthless6REAL @Ristatiin @PunishedJacquie @CinemaCabbage I do not believe he had any intention of changing Marxs work at the very least. He may have misunderstood and incorrectly pieced some ideas together, but ultimately if you were going to have a volume 2 and 3 compiled Engels was the only person alive that was suited for it

@Worthless6REAL @Ristatiin @PunishedJacquie @CinemaCabbage Not very big alterations for the 2nd volume, it was mostly bridging sentences and adding headers to make the scattered manuscripts he was working with work together. 3rd volume is where he does a bit more, but this makes sense since he had less material to work with

@Worthless6REAL @Ristatiin @PunishedJacquie @CinemaCabbage Both had considered it a drag of a task to do. Engels would have preferred to continue writing Dialectics of Nature, but had opted to write the polemic to leave Marx energy for Capital(this is the time period where Marxs health was failing).

@Worthless6REAL @Ristatiin @PunishedJacquie @CinemaCabbage Marx left more than that, he actively collaborated on Engels political work. Anti-Dühring is the typical example of the division, but when you look at their personal correspondences it is pretty clear that the main reason Marx wasnt writing it was because he was busy with Capital

@Ristatiin @Worthless6REAL @PunishedJacquie @CinemaCabbage I generally go off of Lukacs' framing of Marxism(well, he specified Orthodox Marxism) as a belief that dialectical materialism is the correct method to analyse society. In this each individual claim of Marx could be discarded and you can still be a Marxist

@Worthless6REAL @PunishedJacquie @SFlumphius @CinemaCabbage Yeah, I just say it as a meme. I mostly see 'marxism' as a way to scientifically analyse history and society. I suppose a better term is scientific socialism and or dialectical materialism. But marxism is a simpler term, correct me if im wrong though.

@Worthless6REAL @CinemaCabbage @PunishedJacquie Did I say they were infallible? They were both racists. I said they supported national liberation to a degree. Anyway, this is something later changed in Marxist thought, which is national liberation. A continuation of ideas already and a removal of reactionary ideas

@Worthless6REAL @CinemaCabbage @PunishedJacquie And Marx did write that, he also wrote on supporting independence movements. "The English working class will never accomplish anything before it has got rid of Ireland." Clinging to a purely abstract idea of the working man isnt a good way to view things

@Worthless6REAL @CinemaCabbage @PunishedJacquie Engels didn't definitively write that, thats one flawed interpretation of a sentence that is more commonly thought to mean assimilation, the word choices he uses is common for Hegelian assimilationist arguments. He believed those people were incapable of having a state

@SFlumphius @CinemaCabbage @PunishedJacquie Engels also supported the mass murder of ethnic minorities. Also yes I know this is usually a refute of Socialism in One Country. But SIOC is the rejection of Internationalism. So is National Liberation. They both make non-class distinctions. And one leads to the other.

@SFlumphius @AncapPigARLZ no, all but 2 fail. the ones that remain are: 1. the number of people who naturally want to do subsistence work is not high enough to support a society 2. the transition toward communism will always produce a dictator, the system will never be completed.

@Worthless6REAL @CinemaCabbage @PunishedJacquie Thats about SIOC, which is separate from national liberation. Marx and Engels supported national liberation in regards to Poland and Ireland at the very least. Mao sucks for other reasons, like his bad understanding of dialectics

@CinemaCabbage @PunishedJacquie “National Liberation” is The Ant-thesis to Internationalism in praxis. The Working Man has no country and it leads to an inseparable attachment to one’s country. I.e. Nationalism. It’s Nationalism for the lower classes.

@TheoTheFurry_ @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL Because people online get confused, i do it because its far from my first argument online with a stranger. The fact that you have this response to adding the word 'substantive', probably the least controversial word possible, shows alot about online mentalities

@SFlumphius @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL Yes, I have been assuming. And considering you're assuming and started this whole off with an assumption that shouldn't be a problem, but it is because accountability and acknowledging the issues caused is something that twitter users can just decide to not do sometimes. 🥲

@TheoTheFurry_ @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL ? Youve been assuming i was uh, i believe "dunk" you since the beginning. I made an assumption that you were angry with arguing online after complaining about arguing online with other people for a few messages and typing in an aggressive manner. Your tone has softened alot rn

@SFlumphius @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL you assumed my opinion / stance, refused to acknowledge my responses, and spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to tell me why you think I'm angry when I'm not.

@SFlumphius @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL That's true, how long would you like me to wait before responding to your message? I would prefer if you waited at least 30 seconds before sending out a reply.

@TheoTheFurry_ @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL Wait for what? You had said a complete thought and i said a complete thought. Most people ive seen here dont respond to their own messages. I do now understand the stereotype regarding twitter discussions tho, so thats fun

@SFlumphius @Burner1634443 @terminallyOL And I'm doing the same thing you're doing. The only difference is, I didn't respond to you multiple times in a row first, you did so when you decided that every individual message I sent needs to have a response. I made my thread long before you decided to respond.
