A legendary milestone for 🇪🇷⚽! Liverpool’s Alexander Isak is set to light up the 2026 World Cup representing Sweden. His presence makes history as he becomes the first-ever player of Eritrean origin to grace the World Cup stage. History written, legacy secured. Go shine, Alex! Kudos #Eritrea

#EidMubarak - Eid Al Adha celebrations held at Bahti Meskerem this morning in the presence of senior Government and PFDJ officials, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and the faithful. Prayers and blessings presided by Eritrea's Mufti, Sheikh Salem Ibrahim Al-Mukhtar. In the religious sermon that he delivered, Sheikh Salem paid homage to Eritrea's Martyrs and underlined that those who cherish peace are those who know full well, and have suffered, the agonies and devastation inculcated by war. The Mufti also conveyed his congratulations to the Eritrean people and its Defense Forces.

President Isaias's 2026 Independence Day speech is a masterclass in strategic communication. It is calm, analytical, and evidence-based. It does not rant. It does not threaten. It simply states the truth as Eritrea sees it. The US-led unipolar order is unsustainable. Trump's policies are erratic, self-defeating, and based on miscalculation. The old global system must be replaced by a new one founded on fairness and justice. Eritrea will not be a client state. It will be a partner—on its own terms. The blast against bellicosity is no outburst. It is a precise incision—directed at the very core of the U.S. foreign policy establishment. The speech is a declaration of power. Eritrea is telling the United States: We are not a client state. We are not a pawn. We are a sovereign nation with our own interests, principles, and leverage. If there is to be cooperation, it will happen on the basis of mutual respect—not submission. The real question has always been: Why were sanctions imposed in the first place? Why create a federation and spend decades undermining Eritrea’s very existence? President Isaias Afwerki does not dwell on the question—he answers it through reality itself. The sanctions failed. Eritrea endured. And now it is the United States seeking engagement with Asmara, not the other way around. That is the true culmination of the struggle. Not independence on paper. But independence in practice. In reality Eritrea will proactively pursue an alternative roadmap for global governance founded on fairness and regional autonomy rather than reacting to Washington's conditions. Yesterday, during the Independence Day celebrations, many people were asking this question—and this is how I see it. #EritreaShinesAt35 #Eritrea

I want to express my gratitude to my wonderful friend Juliana Olayinka, the London Bureau Chief for Channels TV. Her passion for celebrating with the people and government of Eritrea truly shone through when she joined us in London for Eritrea's 35th Independence Anniversary. Over the past six years, we have worked closely together, and I couldn't be prouder of her achievements as an award-winning broadcast journalist in Africa. Wishing everyone a joyful Independence Day and a happy Africa Day! @JulianaOlayinka @Channels24_UK

UNHCR Guidance Note on #Eritrea: Fact, Context, and the Politics of Omission Ministry of Foreign Affairs 22 April 2026 A comprehensive and nuanced response that elucidates the gross factual, legal, and methodological flaws and distortions that characterize the latest UNHCR Guidance Note on Eritrea. The poignant fact is that this has become almost a ritual pattern with this Agency. Indeed, this was the case with its 2009/11 Eligibility Guidelines which were circulated to various governments in a rather stealthy manner without prior interaction with, or notification to, the GoE. For reasons best known to itself, the UNHCR has, and continues to act, as the principal proponent - the Trojan Horse so to speak - of the agenda of "strategic depopulation" against Eritrea. Its periodic reports remain sheer compilations of notorious, NED-funded and affiliated, outfits that harbour hostile agendas against Eritrea. shabait.com/2026/04/23/unh…

ERITREA ― U.S. President Donald Trump has sent a message of congratulations to the people and Government of Eritrea on the occasion of the nation’s 35th Independence Anniversary. In his message, President Trump stated that the American people join him in congratulating the people and Government of #Eritrea on the 35th anniversary of Eritrea’s independence on May 24. He also expressed admiration for the steadfast spirit and resilience of the Eritrean people, as well as their continued dedication to safeguarding Eritrea’s national sovereignty. President Trump further noted that, consistent with the sentiment expressed in his letter to President Isaias Afwerki last year, and with a new chapter ahead, he believes the time is right to move forward together in pursuit of shared peace and prosperity across the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region. #EritreaAt35 shabait.com/2026/05/22/mes…

As part and parcel of the ongoing festivities for the 35th Anniversary of Independence Day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a Celebratory Reception yesterday evening attended by senior Government/PFDJ officials, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and all MFA staff. Keynote speech by Minister Osman Saleh (link below). Event featured cultural shows, dramas etc. *"...Just as our people demonstrated extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment during the years of the armed struggle, they have, in the post-independence era, mirrored that same indomitable national resolve, dignity, and sense of ownership over their country. This enduring devotion and patriotic spirit constitute one of the most remarkable chapters in Eritrea’s modern history". *"...Eritrea remains steadfast in its conviction that the domestic affairs of sovereign nations must be resolved through nationally owned solutions, free from external interference, coercion, or imposition. Eritrea further maintains that the establishment of a just, balanced, inclusive, and genuinely representative international order is indispensable to the advancement of lasting peace, justice, stability, and equitable cooperation among nations. These principled positions, once deliberately dismissed, distorted, or marginalized, are today gaining increasing recognition and resonance among peoples and states across the world". *"...To concluded, the Government and people of Eritrea reaffirm their unwavering commitment to principled engagement in international affairs and their continued readiness to contribute to the peace, stability, dignity, and collective prosperity of the peoples of our region, our continent, and the wider world". shabait.com/2026/05/21/min…

President Isaias Afwerki received, at the Denden Guest House this evening, Ambassador Dr. Emmaneul Bulukani, who delivered a message to him from his Zimbabwean counterpart, President Emmerson Mnangagwa. In the meeting, President Isaias underlined the imperative for Africa to embark on expansive ventures of value-addition for processing its vast natural resources which will, in turn, enable the Continent to assume its rightful place in the global order as well as enhance and accelerate mutual partnerships and cooperation between all the African countries. In a press statement to the Eritrean News Agency, Ambassador Bulukani expressed Zimbabawe's readiness to cultivate and work out concrete programmes of bilateral cooperation with Eritrea and further consolidate coordination and alignment of their respective positions at multilateral forums such as the AU and the UN.

Statement Delivered by Eritrean Delegation at 79th World Health Assembly 18 May-23 May 2026, Genève "The theme of this Assembly - 'Reshaping Global Health: A Shared Responsibility' - reflects Eritrea’s long-standing commitment to self-reliance and health sovereignty... Over the past three decades, Eritrea has steadily widened access to quality health care. Preventive, promotive, and curative services are broadly available and heavily subsidized. Investments in hospitals, clinics, and community programs have brought care closer to home. Today, most people, even in the remote areas, live within five kilometers of a functioning health facility". shabait.com/2026/05/20/sta…

The defamation campaign against Eritrea has spiked in the past few weeks for rather obvious and predictable reasons and underlying motives. This campaign, which has been going on for almost two decades now in the aftermath of the border conflict with Ethiopia, could not have gained traction in the first place without the support of certain countries. The playbook is boringly the same; utilize, for reasons of outward credibility, spurious and coordinated "testimonies" of handpicked Special Rapporteurs within the UNHRC platform; some obscure NGO's; and other narrow interest groups who have never set foot and are generally clueless about the country. As intimated above, the defamatory agenda is being resuscitated these days with more outlandish accusations and manufactured narratives. Obvious aim is to continue the unwarranted harassment of Eritrea through the UNHRC and its ilk. "እቶም ኣኽላባት ይነብሑ፥ ገመል ይመርሽ!" እዩ እቲ ነገሩ። x.com/ERMedia91/stat…
