Because the law understands something we often forget — What happened to that child, does not leave her in days or months. It stays. *The case moved forward. But even the courtroom did not look like what we usually imagine. The child was not made to stand in front of him. There was a separation. She did not have to answer questions from him directly. Every question passed through the judge. And the judge spoke to her gently, carefully, as if protecting not just her statement, but her mind. The entire system, for once, adjusted itself to protect a child. And slowly, through process, through patience, the law moved towards justice. **I handled this case. And what stayed with me was not just the law but the silence before the child spoke and the courage of a mother who chose to act. There was a time when such things were buried inside homes. Today, things have changed. If a child speaks-the law listens. If someone acts-the system responds. But it all begins at one point — When someone chooses not to ignore. *If you ever see a child suddenly becoming quiet, avoiding someone, showing fear without reason… Don’t dismiss it. Sit down. Ask. A farmer from Sakleshpur, Karnataka once took a 50,000 loan from Canara Bank. Like many farmers, he worked hard and repaid the entire loan with interest. He thought the matter was finished. But one day, the bank contacted him and said something unexpected. According to the bank’s system, 9.34 was still pending in his loan account. Until that amount was paid, his next loan application could not be processed. The farmer was surprised. After repaying 50,000, the bank was now asking for 9.34. Still, he decided to clear it and went to the bank branch. At the counter, he gave the cashier 10 to settle the remaining 9.34. But then he asked the bank to return the balance - 0.66 (66 paise). The staff reportedly told him that such a small amount didn’t matter. But the farmer replied calmly: If 9.34 matters to the bank, then 66 paise should also matter. He waited at the branch, insisting on getting his exact change. After the issue became public, the bank eventually credited the remaining 66 paise back to his account, and the loan account was finally closed. For many people, the story became a symbol. Not because of 66 paise, but because it raised a bigger question: Why are small borrowers chased for every rupee, while large defaulters sometimes escape with crores unpaid?
