Having the privilege of covering the 13th African Games and a major tournament as a Freelance Sports Journalist was a great feeling. The excitement, exposure, and experience were worth it. I have a dream, and surely it will make sense one day. Thank you @victorcariou

Mr. Daniel Koranteng
Athletes in Ghana have faced years of inadequate support, so much so that it has almost become accepted as the norm. Edwin Gadayi had to travel by bus from Kumasi to Accra to catch a last-minute flight to Botswana after a late change in the team. In a situation that required urgency, why was a quicker and more efficient arrangement, such as a domestic flight, not made. This is part of a wider pattern. In 2023, Ghana was forced to withdraw from the men’s 4x100m relay at the World Championships after two athletes picked up injuries, with no reserve available to step in. Fast forward to the recently concluded World Relays, and Ghana’s entire delegation consisted of just five people: four athletes and a coach. There was no reserve, no physiotherapist, no nutritionist, and no structured recovery team. As a result, the athletes were left to manage their own recovery, sometimes relying on support from competitors. Despite these conditions, expectations remained high, and when things previously went wrong, their concerns were often dismissed as excuses. While recent complaints have centred on travel arrangements, those issues are only a small part of a much larger problem involving preparation, planning, and athlete welfare. What makes this even more striking is the team’s continued success in spite of these challenges. Ghana’s relay squad has qualified for four consecutive World Athletics Championships and back-to-back Olympic Games. At the last World Championships, they came within fractions of a second of a podium finish while recording two of the fastest times in the nation’s history. As it stands, Ghana may be witnessing a once-in-a-generation crop of athletes, one that risks being under-supported at a critical moment. We are going to regret this sooner rather than later.

Gaspar and new Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz, have worked together a handful of times over the last three decades, including stops with the Portugal national team and Iran national team. This will be Gaspar’s fourth time appearing at the World Cup as he’s coached with Portugal in 2010 and Iran in 2014 and 2018. #3Sports

Everyone is quite rightly giving Bruno Fernandes a lot of credit for his 19 Premier League assists so far this season. Ignore the chat about set-pieces, anyone who has paid any attention to football this campaign will see their increasing importance. But... Federico Dimarco's 17 league assists, a new Serie A record, from left wing-back, isn't being talked about nearly enough. Marcelo, Alba, Robertson... we've seen some phenomenal attacking left-backs this century. But their highest amount of League assists in a single season? Marcelo and Alba 10, Robertson 12... Puts it into perspective just how extraordinary his season has been, especially coming off a brutal end to 24/25 with his side gunning for a treble, before ending up with nothing.... and Dimarco struggling in the latter stages of the Champions League. Top work!

Men are not "intimidated" by your degree, your corporate job, your tax bracket, or your fierce independence. They genuinely do not care about your resume. What modern women call "intimidation" is actually just a man walking away because your combative energy, constant need to argue, and refusal to yield is completely exhausting. You aren't intimidating; you are just insufferable to come home to.

what opinion about men do you have that makes people feel like this???

Ghanaians are painfully opportunistic when it comes to pricing. When the sachet water producers announced an increase, government stepped in to halt it, yet some still went ahead to raise prices anyway. What is even more troubling is that retailers of bottled water have also used it as an excuse to increase theirs. Businesses are quick to raise prices at the slightest opportunity, but never ready to reduce them when conditions improve. Instead of fair competition protecting consumers, every rumor or announcement becomes a chance for them to maximize profit. Imagine a country where businesses exploit basic necessities such as water and food. 🤦‍♀️ The problem is not just inflation; it is greed, weak enforcement, and the lack of accountability in our pricing culture. Until there is stronger regulation and a sense of social responsibility, consumers will continue to suffer whenever any small excuse arises.
