As the fireworks light up the skies this July 4, 2025, our hearts at Stand in the Gap are heavy with the memory of those we lost in the wake and aftermath of January 6, 2021. This first Fourth of July since so many were pardoned is a moment to pause, to reflect, and to honor the precious lives that are no longer with us. Their absence casts a shadow on our celebrations, a reminder of the deep cost of freedom. These were Americans—sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, patriots all—who carried dreams, convictions, and love for this nation. They were veterans, protectors, and citizens, each with a story that ended too soon. Today, as we wave our flags and sing of liberty, we pledge to never forget those who are not here to share this moment. Their sacrifice fuels our commitment to a nation that stands tall, bound by the ideals of freedom and justice for all. Happy Independence Day.

Today, we gathered to honor and celebrate the beautiful life of our brother  Bart, a soul who touched us all. We came together in love and unity to say our final goodbyes. The weather was nothing short of perfect as if the heavens themselves were wrapping Bart in their light. The service was profoundly moving, a tapestry of memories woven with laughter, tears, and stories that reminded us of the incredible legacy Bart leaves behind. Each word spoken, each song sung, carried the weight of our love for him, echoing through our hearts and into eternity. At the graveside, emotions poured freely—grief, yes, but also gratitude for the gift of having known such a remarkable man. The burial site was breathtaking, nestled in a serene landscape that honors those who have served this great nation. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for every person who helped make this day a beautiful farewell. To those who organized, attended, shared stories, offered prayers, or simply held space for Bart’s memory—thank you. Your prayers, love, support carried us through this day, turning our sorrow into a celebration of a life so well-lived.
