More than 2000 people who went into the Capitol on January 6 were never arrested. They avoided four years of legal persecution, and because J6 was so politicized, they also escaped a lifetime of public scrutiny. The opposite is true for entirely peaceful Americans who were arrested and had their lives crushed. J6 defendants continue to struggle to find jobs and rebuild their lives due to the weaponization of government, which resulted in permanent defamation. Nobody has been held accountable for that weaponization, and the Bondi DOJ has made no effort to atone for those damages despite President Trump issuing an executive order to do just that.

Former J6 defendants were mistreated at every level, at every turn, and were never presumed innocent. Instead, we were forced to prove our innocence to the entire world—which is impossible when the entire U.S. federal government and media apparatus are against you. Prosecutors, judges, juries, politicians, peers, and the media never saw us as individuals with unique reasons for being there that day and unique actions and experiences. They saw us as representations of President Trump and projected their hatred of him onto us—and they still do.
