This is now our third refurbished lab in 2 years and it has been a pleasure to teach and do practicals with students.

@Coeliac_UK Going to a restaurant that normally has gluten free pasta or bread and being told ‘we’ve not got it today’ No apology and no awareness that this means you can’t eat at all.

What’s the hardest part about being gluten free that people don’t always see?

Wow, I’ve been away from EduTwitter for 6 months!
A planned op went terribly wrong which resulted in sepsis twice, losing organs, blood transfusions, clots & 2 comas…
I now have a stoma.
Are there any teachers with a stoma who are happy to chat?😬

I think booklets are great, but fundamentally don't think they should exist.
Published resources should be good enough such that teachers and schools don't need to make their own full curriculum suites.

@ianwhite21 not sure i understand, you still need a good teacher to deliver the booklets and if you don't have really good booklets, then you probably need an outlier teacher to build that curriculum

A common mistake many science teachers make is assuming that students already know how to use lab equipment. As a result, students are often left to figure out how to use the lab equipment while conducting the lab. This causes cognitive overload.

One concept I wish more educators thought carefully about is the "curse of knowledge." Students don't know many of the things you know. This means they need explanation of things that are obvious or automatic to you. It also means they often aren't going to learn what you think they are from a project or activity, and they may not even know what they should pay attention to. Planning must involve stepping back, thinking about what knowledge students might be missing, and making sure that what you're asking them to do makes sense at this point in their learning, given those potential gaps.
