@MrBadmic Maybe if you could instantly switch between the shielding and normal state it’d be better. That way you could do cool stuff like sprint jumping then shielding to maintain full momentum as you shield

@elijacore honestly that was just a lucifer prime soul fight teaser to me. it didn't make me want to actually see the other archangels because putting it in this late is both "they exist" and "they don't matter to what's going on" in my eyes. maybe lucifer will talk about them?

I’ve seen some Remedy/Control fans act like this game looks like too weird/risky of a leap and the concept of that is really funny to me. MGS2 comes for everyone eventually I am honestly shocked it didn’t happen sooner!

@whoruble @JorgeHighwind You can still predict it. That’s still a skill you can master. I’m trying to make the point that adding more skill doesn’t always make the game better. Sometimes it just serves to distract from the core game

@JorgeHighwind @whoruble Damn. losing a tourney bc you didn’t grind an input enough I mean in the specific outlined scenario there is no choice to make. It’s just. Did you grind this move enough to be confident to use it under pressure. Not that there’s not a use case for the other move ever

@JorgeHighwind @whoruble At a high level they will not mess up the input so it’s effectively just a means of locking out options without grinding for an input first. There is no choice to be made or prediction or even spacing. The shoryuken will always be better than the heavy punch

@SLASHY_ssb @whoruble Balancing stronger moves by making them harder to do. Imagine you are playing Ryu and your opponent jumps. You can anti air by doing a crouching heavy punch, or a shoryuken. Shoryuken will do more damage and have invulnerability. Is it fair for it to be just as easy to do?

@whoruble @JorgeHighwind I didn’t say invisible I meant let’s say instead of their being 30 frames of motion before the move comes out theirs 5. It still has the same amount of start up it just requires a lot more reaction or prediction to punish. That would technically add more skill to the game

@whoruble @JorgeHighwind There are better ways to add more moves without making the inputs horrible. If more difficulty is better than wouldn't it be good if the characters had less tells and were hard to read? It would add more complexity and skill

@SLASHY_ssb @JorgeHighwind I’m an advocate for fighting games to not just be ssb clones.. more inputs is nice, having more then 10 attacks is nice, having options in games is nice. to memorize and execute directional inputs to get a “qte” when you could just press X once is meaningful complexity. Options

@whoruble @JorgeHighwind I wouldn’t call being able to use all your attacks mastering it. Most ppl getting into fighting games for the first time will not be able to input a motion input once without practice. There are better ways to allow for more moves than what’s been done in the past.

You can always fully control your character, it’s a matter of consistency which comes with practice as there are more options and possibilities than u-tilt and n-air with motion inputs. It’s just more complex. Not for everyone
