Just more than two months after Cyclone Ditwah devastated Sri Lanka, volunteers like Chathurika Sewwandi Kumari are still standing with their communities as they rebuild. “Maybe I can help, at least one of them I could help.” Now, her focus is on what comes next: “I think we have to help people further… give information to them about what you have to do, where you have to go, whom you have to call.” A Sri Lanka Red Cross (@SLRedCross) volunteer for 10 years, following in the footsteps of her mother and sister, Chathurika represents the compassion and commitment to helping families recover after the storm.

The @SLRedCross - Mullaitivu Branch, together with community participation, carried out a coastal clean-up campaign at Chemmalai Beach. Through collective action, SLRCS volunteers and communities worked hand in hand to protect the coastline, promote environmental conservation.

The @SLRedCross – Colombo Branch conducted a Restoring Family Links Awareness Programme, raising awareness on reconnecting families separated by crises. As conflicts and disasters continue to rise globally, helping families reconnect with families has never been more important.

The @SLRedCross, in partnership with the Chellaram Foundation, provided dry ration packs to families affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Matale. The distributions were held at the Naula and Ambanganga Korale Divisional Secretariats, helping to ease daily burdens for affected families.
