Marking World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day under the theme “United in Humanity,” the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society - Mannar Branch organized a mangrove plantation programme with the participation of volunteers.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Kilinochchi Branch carried out the distribution of school kits with support from the Disaster Relief Fund of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and Hong Kong Red Cross, helping children return to learning with dignity and hope.

In commemoration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2026, the @SLRedCross – Vavuniya Branch carried out a tree plantation initiative, blood donation drive, and served refreshments to the public, reflecting the true spirit of humanity. Together, we are #UnitedInHumanity ❤️

@SLRedCross is conducting workshops on Epidemic Control Practices and Solid Waste Management in high-risk MOH areas under the IFRC Simplified Early Action Protocol for Dengue. Communities are being empowered for dengue prevention through early action and awareness.

@SLRedCross Anuradhapura conducted hygiene promotion campaigns with awareness sessions and distributed sanitary napkins to schoolchildren as part of the Cyclone Ditwah response. Supporting girls with essential hygiene, knowledge, and dignity reducing health risks. ❤️

Together with the Disaster Management Centre and UNFPA Sri Lanka, with support from DFAT, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society hosted a National Dialogue on Anticipatory Action, focusing on the integration of protection and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in Sri Lanka.❤️

Just more than two months after Cyclone Ditwah devastated Sri Lanka, volunteers like Chathurika Sewwandi Kumari are still standing with their communities as they rebuild. “Maybe I can help, at least one of them I could help.” Now, her focus is on what comes next: “I think we have to help people further… give information to them about what you have to do, where you have to go, whom you have to call.” A Sri Lanka Red Cross (@SLRedCross) volunteer for 10 years, following in the footsteps of her mother and sister, Chathurika represents the compassion and commitment to helping families recover after the storm. 👉Read her story: bit.ly/4e169IV

The @SLRedCross - Mullaitivu Branch, together with community participation, carried out a coastal clean-up campaign at Chemmalai Beach. Through collective action, SLRCS volunteers and communities worked hand in hand to protect the coastline, promote environmental conservation.

The @SLRedCross – Colombo Branch conducted a Restoring Family Links Awareness Programme, raising awareness on reconnecting families separated by crises. As conflicts and disasters continue to rise globally, helping families reconnect with families has never been more important.

The @SLRedCross, in partnership with the Chellaram Foundation, provided dry ration packs to families affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Matale. The distributions were held at the Naula and Ambanganga Korale Divisional Secretariats, helping to ease daily burdens for affected families.

@SLRedCross conducted a 5-day BDRT Induction Training for the Puttalam Branch, equipping volunteers with essential disaster response skills. Together, we build a prepared network - ready to support communities when it matters most. 🌍🤝

Responding to the urgent needs of communities impacted by prolonged dry weather, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society - Galle Branch facilitated the provision of water tanks in Bentota, helping ensure safe and access to drinking water for vulnerable families. ❤️

@SLRedCross - Vavuniya Branch organized a clean up campaign at Kalvari Church, Vavuniya, with the participation of dedicated volunteers and communities. Together, we continue to create safer, cleaner spaces while supporting our communities with care. 💕
