Tom Garner from Ulster University Coleraine presents their PhD research exploring the structure and formation of rock coast microbialites in Ireland, including environmental factors driving their formation and preservation potential in the Quaternary coastal record #SLaCC2023

Gregor Rink from University of Galway explores the use of cosmogenic nuclides and photogrammetry to quantify erosion of rocky Irish coastlines and the influence of different geologic and geomorphic characteristics #SLaCC2023

Into our final session for the day! @ZoeRoseby presents a 1500-year record of relative sea-level change produced using saltmarsh-based geological techniques from Cork, Ireland #SLaCC2023

During the poster session Niamh O'Donoghue from University College Cork presented PhD research using a combination of techniques to explore erosional and depositional patterns along beaches in Dublin Bay #SLaCC2023

During the poster session Saule Akhmetkaliyeva of University College Dublin presented research on Ireland's blue carbon potential involving the use of organic biomarkers #SLaCC2023

Juliane Scheder from Geological Survey of Belgium presents their research developing transfer function relative sea-level reconstructions from the southern North Sea using foraminifera and ostracods, helping understand the Holocene changes in the region #SLaCC2023

Next up is @sarah_woodroffe summarising more than a decade of work, demonstrating how Greenland saltmarsh sediments can be used to reconstruct relative sea level and the timing of recent mass balance changes from marginal areas of the Greenland Ice Sheet #SLaCC2023

Lauren Pretorius from Durham University is now discussing their research using multiproxy transfer functions to reconstruct late Holocene relative sea-level change at the Kromme estuary, South Africa #SLaCC2023

Michael Grant from University of Southampton is presenting evidence of a tidal lagoonal system in the outer Humber Estuary during the early Holocene. Important insights into responses of coastal lowlands to rapid sea-level rise #SLaCC2023

Abbie Nugent from Trinity College Dublin is now presenting their PhD research addressing the challenges of understanding decadal scale barrier island evolution within larger coastal systems, combining process-based and conceptual coastal change models #SLaCC2023

Our opening talk is by Andrea Fuchs from University College Dublin exploring increases of methane emissions from blue carbon habitats due to Spartina alterniflora invasion 🌱#SLaCC2023
