@SLasuik I see your point, but this is conjecture based on wording of media. I just read a few articles that said injuries were "mutilating". Likely close range shots to or near the head. It took 3 days to ID bodies because of this. Plus, their ID was gone from van when they were found.

#canadamanhunt Maybe they broke van window to steal supplies or van itself, not expecting anyone to be sleeping inside and not initially intending harm. Perhaps L&C also had a means to defend themselves and got shot in resulting skirmish? Who WOULDN'T take a gun into wilderness!

@CarolAnnForde So many questions... I am sure that the difference in murder scenes is why K&B were not charged in relation to the tourists. The evidence that links them to Mr. Dyck is still a mystery, unless the RAV 4 was his and that's the basis of the charge. #unsettling

@SLasuik If true, either L&C had a gun/weapon and broke window in self-defense when someone was breaking into van - or - K&B busted it on purpose after the fact for who knows what reason. If they're ever found alive, answers will hopefully fall into place. Mutilation=UGH!!!
