This is nuts. Greenland is part of a NATO ally: Denmark. Denmark made an oversized contribution to the US led mission in Afghanistan, with the second highest number of per capita soldiers killed in combat. Denmark has never refused to locate US military assets in Greenland, and has made it repeatedly clear that it would welcome a larger US defence presence there, *as part of NATO.* Risking the integrity of NATO would make the US less, not more secure. NATO allies, including Canada, are stepping up with large increases in defence spending. The US should take that W and work with its allies on Arctic security, rather than threatening to invade a close ally.
