Cheer, Celebrate, Support – Monroe Victory Day Is Free for All Spectators! The St. Mary Catholic Central football program, in partnership with Monroe Trojans Football, will host the 3rd Annual Monroe Victory Day this Saturday, August 23, at 10 AM at Navarre Field. Nearly 60 participants with cognitive and physical disabilities will take part in an unforgettable football experience. The SMCC Varsity team will serve as mentors, with JV players assisting at skill stations. Players from Airport, Erie Mason, Ida, Jefferson, and Monroe High Schools will also be on hand as mentors. SMCC Cheerleaders, joined by squads from Monroe and Airport, will provide sideline spirit, while the Airport High School Marching Band creates a true game day atmosphere. “This event gives these young men and women their special moment in the spotlight – and for two hours, our community comes together to celebrate them,” said Kyle McElvany, SMCC Director of Inclusion, assistant football coach, and Monroe Victory Day director. Longtime Falcons radio announcer Jeff Grodi will provide live commentary, and a Community Area with local vendors will be available. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to help launch a scholarship fund supporting students pursuing careers serving individuals with special needs.
