🌍 A Day of Innovation, Impact, and Honor at Ecobora’s Clean Cooking Facility Today, I had the privilege of visiting Ecobora’s manufacturing facility in Kajiado, Kenya, where I was warmly welcomed by an inspiring team leading transformative change in the clean cooking sector. During the visit, I observed the remarkable production processes behind their institutional, commercial, and household stoves, as well as their groundbreaking commercial e-pans—designed for high efficiency and low emissions. A key highlight was the live demonstration of Ecobora’s digital MRV (dMRV) platform, which leverages smart meters to provide real-time data for transparency, efficiency, and measurable climate impact. 🎉 In a truly humbling moment, I was honored to receive the MAASAI cultural blanket and the chief’s stick—a powerful symbol of trust and leadership in clean cooking—from the Ecobora team. 🔜 Over the next two months, Ecobora is set to roll out the first batch of household pilot stoves, and organize a live demonstration of their institutional and commercial models for restaurants and hotels in Galkacyo, Somalia. A major step forward in delivering sustainable, life-changing cooking solutions that protect both people and planet. 👏 A heartfelt thank you to the Ecobora team for your leadership, vision, and generous hospitality. We at the Somali Green Energy Association (SOGEA) are proud to collaborate and champion clean energy solutions for communities across the Horn of Africa. Together, let’s build a greener, healthier future. 🌱 @geccoHQ @mecs_plus @ecobora #CleanCooking #SustainableEnergy #GreenTech #InnovationForImpact #ClimateAction #SmartEnergy #SomaliaDevelopment #EnergyAccess #WomenEmpowerment #Ecobora #SOGEA #Galkacyo #CleanEnergySolutions #RenewableEnergy #CarbonFinance #TechForGood #GreenAfrica #PublicPrivatePartnerships

🌞 Sustainable Cooking for a Greener Somalia! 🇸🇴 This past weekend in Galkacyo, we were proud to host a transformative training session led by Ecobora—a newly joined member of the Somali Green Energy Association (SOGEA) and an award-winning clean energy innovator based in Kenya. ⸻ 🔹 Day 1 Highlights: Ecobora’s team began by meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Galkacyo, who raised urgent concerns about deforestation. Solar-powered cooking was welcomed as a clean, affordable, and practical solution. At a local IDP community, women shared painful stories of firewood scarcity and the daily risks they face while collecting it. One woman’s words struck us all: “Yesterday I went to collect firewood and couldn’t find any, so I came back and we slept hungry.” Ecobora also visited the Mudug Orphanage and a local bakery that burns a truckload of firewood monthly—costing $130 to bake 1,100 loaves of bread daily. These visits revealed the economic and health toll of traditional cooking. Hope emerged from promising meetings with IBS Bank and Amal Bank, opening doors to future microfinance solutions for clean cooking access in low-income communities. ⸻ 🔹 Day 2: Hands-On Workshop Over 100 participants from Galkacyo and Puntland attended a dynamic training on solar cookstove solutions. The response was overwhelming—many embraced this technology as a timely and transformative answer to Somalia’s cooking and energy challenges. ⸻ 🌍 Key Takeaways: •90% of Somalia’s population relies on firewood—unsustainable and costly •Electricity prices remain high at $1 per kWh, forcing families to seek alternatives •Ecobora’s model promotes local empowerment—training IDP community members as distributors, repair technicians, and energy champions ⸻ 🔋 With abundant sunshine, Somalia can lead the shift from energy poverty to energy independence. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Ecobora as we push for a cleaner, healthier, and more self-reliant Somalia. @cleancooking @GOGLAssociation @IGAD_CPAC @UNEP @MoECC_Somalia

We are excited to announce that SOMALI GREEN ENERGY ASSOCIATION (SOGEA) is now a full member of the Global Solar Council (GSC) Last week, during his visit to the UK, our Chairman, Bashiir Mohamud @EngSoofe met with representatives of the Global Solar Council, signed the Terms of Reference, and completed the official documentation to formalize our membership. This marks a significant milestone for SOGEA as we strengthen our collaboration with global stakeholders, align with international best practices, enhance our advocacy efforts for solar energy, and increase the visibility of our association on the global stage. Our membership comes just a few months after engaging with the CEO of the Global Solar Council, @soniakdunlop during her visit to Nairobi for Intersolar Africa. Such interactions are invaluable for building networks and fostering partnerships with global industry leaders. We are also pleased to share that SOGEA will be participating in Intersolar Africa 2026, scheduled for March at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi. We look forward to showcasing our work and contributing to the advancement of solar energy in the region. @GSolarCouncil @GOGLAssociation #SOGEA #GlobalSolarCouncil #SolarEnergy #IntersolarAfrica #Sustainability, #Possiblewithsolar, #CleanEnergy #Partnerships #Renewables

🌍 Empowering Somalia’s Renewable Energy Future! ☀️ The Somali Green Energy Association (SOGEA) recently hosted a transformative Solar PV Installation Workshop in Mogadishu — and the response was extraordinary! We planned for just 30 participants, but nearly 500 applications poured in from enthusiastic university graduates in Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, and Business — a testament to the growing interest in clean energy careers. This overwhelming interest highlights two key realities: ✅ A critical skills gap in Somalia’s renewable energy sector ✅ A rising enthusiasm among youth and women to drive change After a competitive selection process, 30 finalists (17 males, 13 females) were trained to install 500W standalone off-grid solar systems. This hands-on experience gave them essential technical skills, increasing their job readiness and capacity to scale clean energy solutions across Somalia. We are especially proud of participants like Jawahir, an electrical engineer, who shared how this training boosted her confidence and opened new doors in a field where women are still underrepresented. The path forward is clear: 🔹 Scale technical training, especially for youth and women 🔹 Strengthen support for solar system design, clean cooking, and off-grid solutions 🔹 Mobilize investment to reduce unemployment and power local economies At SOGEA, we’re committed to growing Somalia’s green workforce. We’re actively seeking partnerships and sponsorships to expand this initiative and make renewable energy accessible, affordable, and sustainable for all. Let’s invest in a cleaner, brighter, and more inclusive future for Somalia! #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #CapacityBuilding #WomenInEnergy #YouthEmpowerment #GreenJobs #Somalia #SOGEA @GOGLAssociation @cleancooking @UKMECS @GSolarCouncil @RuralElec @UNEP_Africa @UNDPSomalia @PowerAfricaUS @AbdisalamAato @HarunMaruf @BashirMJ @Godahbarre @EngNaaji @MoECC_Somalia
