A longtime leader and former Chief Operating Officer, Troy brings decades of experience, deep institutional knowledge, and a powerful commitment to advancing dignity, opportunity, and stability for our neighbors across Washington, DC. This marks an exciting new chapter for SOME as we continue expanding our impact and strengthening our mission for the future.

Last month, SOME had the privilege of hosting Troy Selberg, the Director of Workforce Initiatives at the US Department of Labor, at the SOME Center for Employment Training (CET). Accompanying him were Candee Chambers, Director of the Office of Public Liaison, and Anna Russell, Deputy Director of the same office. We are deeply appreciative of Mr. Selberg and his team's insights and dedication to advancing workforce innovation. During their visit, we proudly demonstrated how SOME CET is creating opportunities for our students through hands-on skills training and employment readiness programs in the building and healthcare trades. We at SOME CET are excited about the potential of forging a robust and impactful partnership with the DOL. Together, we aim to empower our students with the skills necessary to harness the technologies of the future to create long-term career success. @USDOL

NAHB staff in D.C. this week, led by CEO Jim Tobin, partnered with So Others Might Eat (@SOME_DC) on a multi-day volunteering opportunity for staff to give back to their local community like so many HBAs across the Federation.

What happens when over 160 Georgetown University McDonough School of Business students come together for a fireside chat with interim CEO Troy Swanda? Service comes alive. After an engaging conversation about leadership, purpose, and community responsibility, students worked together to assemble 400 snack bags for individuals who rely on SOME’s daily programs — all in just 30 minutes. They also raised nearly $4,000 through scarf donations and contributions at the Joint Graduate Degree Holiday Party. The room was full of connection, compassion, and shared effort! Thank you @msbgu

Giving is a tradition we're proud to share - for the third year in a row, our incredible staff came together to donate food to @SOME_DC. We collected over 400 items for families across the District. Thank you to every team member; together we're helping families experience the warmth of the holiday season.

Last night, @MSE Foundation hosted a food drive benefitting SOME, where game attendees could drop off nonperishable food items before entering the @WashWizards arena. It was a SLAM DUNK! 🏀
