A guy named Jonah accidentally built the most useful website on the internet. It's called Privacy Guides. This is the website Google would rather you not find, Meta actively lobbies against, data brokers have tried to discredit for years, and the entire advertising industry treats as a direct threat to their business model. It has been online since 2019. It takes no affiliate money. It runs no ads. Journalists cite it. Security researchers trust it. Here's how it works. Privacy Guides is a curated recommendation list. The site itself sells nothing. It just tells you which private tool actually replaces every surveillance product in your life, tested by security researchers and updated every month, organized into 40+ categories with the exact reason each pick was chosen. → Browsers that block trackers and ads by default → Email providers that cannot read your messages → Search engines that do not build a profile on you → Password managers you can self-host → VPNs that accept cash and Monero and log nothing → Messengers with end-to-end encryption Signal-tier or better → Photo apps that do not scan your camera roll → Health apps that do not sell your data to insurance companies → A custom Android OS called GrapheneOS that strips Google out of your phone entirely The site is run by a non-profit called MAGIC Grants. Every recommendation goes through a public forum review, a GitHub pull request, and criteria published on the site so anyone can audit why a tool was chosen. No company can pay to be listed. No affiliate link exists on the entire domain. Google can't shut this down. Meta can't shut this down. Amazon can't shut this down. The entire $600 billion surveillance advertising industry is built on the assumption that you would never spend one afternoon on this website. privacyguides.org/en/tools/

Over the past several decades, America has become more closed and authoritarian, while China has become more open and market-oriented. Those not paying attention still call the former capitalist, and the latter communist. The current situation with AI models developing in both countries is downstream of this cultural/political trend, and I wonder if the future will be set by it.
Arena.ai@arena

Big news: Kimi-K3 by @Kimi_Moonshot is now #1 in the Frontend Code Arena with 1679 pts, surpassing Claude Fable 5. This is a 17-place jump from Kimi-k2.6 (#18 -> #1). In Frontend, Kimi-K3 ranked #1 in 6 of 7 domains: Brand & Marketing, Reference-Based Design, Data & Analytics, Consumer Product, Simulations, and Content Creation Tools, landing #2 only in Gaming behind Fable 5. The full model weights will be released by July 27. Congrats to the @Kimi_Moonshot team on this major milestone!

When we think of totalitarianism, we understand that this is the impulse to control everything. Your work. Your money. Your family. Your thoughts - even to know your dissonant thoughts. Let’s focus specifically on “thoughts” for a minute. This has always been true throughout time immemorial - other people don’t really know what we are thinking. They can guess. But they don’t know. So as far as totalitarians go, it was difficult to impossible for them to definitively put their prying eyes on our private ideas and commitments. This is good news. Your overlords and demons can’t read your mind. But now, they don’t have to. Alas, they figured us out. Through internet searches and AI quarries we give them all of our thoughts and desires. For the sake of a little more ease and efficiency, we gave the totalitarians (both current and future tyrants) everything they wanted and needed. Things that they never could have taken for themselves. For the sake of efficiency and power, the private knowledge in our hearts was volunteered and uploaded. Now stored and accessible to the worst people and creatures imaginable in the digital memory. Never to be forgotten. Be smart out there.

Bypassing the latest #EU #ageVerification app (2026.07-1) with a Chrome extension... again. Despite 3 months of security hardening and genuine improvements across the board, the fundamental issue cannot be solved. Anonymous age verification doesn't work.

🚨 WARREN BUFFETT ENDS TWO-DECADE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GATES FOUNDATION. Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has stopped donating to the Gates Foundation, ending a philanthropic partnership that has seen more than $47 billion donated since 2006. According to Reuters, Buffett's decision follows public revelations about Bill Gates' past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Instead of directing this year's $6 billion Berkshire Hathaway donation to the Gates Foundation, Buffett has allocated the funds to four foundations run by members of his own family. Buffett also confirmed that his remaining Berkshire Hathaway shares will ultimately be distributed through those family foundations rather than the Gates Foundation. 🎯 MY ASSESSMENT: Buffett's decision represents a remarkable shift. After two decades of close philanthropic cooperation, one of the world's most respected investors has chosen to distance his future charitable giving from the Gates Foundation. Regardless of the motivation, it is a development that is likely to intensify scrutiny of the Foundation and of Bill Gates' past associations. Source: Reuters / AP.

“Like we either live in a world with freedom or we don’t, and like many Americans who have come before, I’m willing to give my life to fighting for it. That’s the real plan America deserves, not some totalitarian dystopia where you think you know what’s good for me better than I do. A nation of free men, not a bunch of pussies who are so worried about what their grown up neighbors might do.” More of this energy hell yes @realGeorgeHotz

Today we share the worldview behind our mission. Human values don't average out. Local knowledge can't be centralized. The good future has many AIs, raised in different places, shaped by the people they serve, disagreeing with each other the way we do. thinkingmachines.ai/blog/the-futur…

Piccadilly Circus. The London Councils didn’t like our campaign against the upcoming state spyware in the UK. So, first the word ”government” was blacked out. Then the whole message was scrapped. On the other side of the road, though: alive and kicking.
