যৌন নির্যাতন: যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ড প্রতিবেশীর ২৫ আগস্ট, ২০২৪। হাঁসখালি থানার ঘটনা। বাড়িতে তখন একাই ছিল বছর ছাব্বিশের প্রতিবন্ধী যুবতী মেয়েটি। তাকে একা পেয়ে, সুযোগ বুঝে, ঘরের মধ্যে ঢুকে পড়ে অভিযুক্ত মোহনলাল বিশ্বাস। চালায় তার উপর যৌন নির্যাতন। তারপর? মেয়েটিকে সেই অবস্থায় রেখে পালিয়ে যায় অভিযুক্ত। মেয়েটির বাবা বাড়ি ফিরে এসে তাকে ওই অবস্থায় দেখে সঙ্গে-সঙ্গে ছুটে আসেন আমাদের কাছে। মামলা রুজু হয় হাঁসখালি থানায়। তদন্তের দায়িত্ব পান সাব-ইন্সপেক্টর তুহিন ঘোষ। অভিযোগ পাওয়া মাত্রই দ্রুত তদন্ত শুরু করেন তিনি। উপযুক্ত তথ্য-প্রমাণ সংগ্রহ করে অভিযুক্তকে গ্রেফতার করেন এবং যথাসময়ে জমা করেন উপযুক্ত চার্জশীট। সম্প্রতি মামলার রায় বেরিয়েছে। অসহায় মেয়েটির জন্য ৪ লক্ষ টাকা ক্ষতিপূরণ সহ অপরাধীকে যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ডে দণ্ডিত করেছেন আদালত। কোনো ক্ষতিপূরণই যথার্থ নয় মেয়েটির জন্য। তবুও, যৌন নির্যাতনের মতো এহেন ঘৃণ্য অপরাধের যথাযোগ্য শাস্তি পেয়েছে অভিযুক্ত— প্রাপ্তি বলতে এটুকুই। @PoliceRanaghat
